  1. Same as Ali. sent my cv via email, interviewed by phone the following day and offered a job
  2. I have BUPA for myself and my 18 month old son in the UK. We move to Oz on a 176 in 3.5 weeks and have spoken to both BUPA Oz and UK about transferring our policy. In Oz BUPA have quoted me $160/month for me, my husband and my son. I currently pay £100 just for the 2 of us. They said that when we arrive in Oz, we sign up with BUPA Oz and they will essentially just bring our cover over. The beauty of staying with BUPA is that having had treatment in the last few years, these things will all continue to be covered. There may be cheaper companies out there but I would have to start all over again and certain things would be excluded. For me, it's a no brainer to continue with BUPA. I seem to have gone slightly off track! The point I was trying to make is that if BUPA Oz can easily transfer our policy to them, surely the same could be done if you were to return to the UK.
  3. Has anyone applied in April to do the paramedic training/degree with SJA? My husband applied and hasn't heard anything yet and I was wondering if anyone had had contact. The closing date was 27th April
  4. My other half will work but will need to find a job which may take a while. My son will not go to nursery immediately but he will start fairly soon after arrival as he goes to nursery here and gets a lot out of it. I appreciate that with a second salary that will make a difference but $10k/month still sounds an awful lot.
  5. That seems a hell of a lot to have to earn! I'm coming over in August and will be getting about $1100/week after tax. I've got PR and will probably initially be living on one wage. My son will go into full time nursery at some point. I figured that although we won't be rolling in it we should get by. $10,000/month seems a bit excessive to me to say that that's the only way to break even. As a nurse I would never be on that kind of money
  6. I'm a nurse and got wa ss and have been granted 176. All you need to supply is cv, ielts and skills assessment. It's only for the main visa application that you need to provide evidence of 12 months work experience in last 24 months. I just provided a work reference for that evidence (it did mean coming clean with my boss). Hope that helps :-)
  7. Look for long day care. There are loads in Perth. Have a look at http://www.careforkids.com.au
  8. Essentially it looks like I may have job offers from both hospitals. Anyone have experience of these hospitals and have any preference?
  9. Are you able to salary package? If so you could get one that way. The amount you pay includes fuel, insurance, servicing, tax, basically all your running costs. It comes out of your pre-tax pay. I'm going to be working for a public hospital and you can benefit hugely from salary packaging.
  10. Just thought I'd let you guys know I got a job today!! I sent my CV to a hospital yesterday and they interviewed me this morning and offered me a job there and then :-) So it looks like things are really on track now. Flight booked, job offer in place, friends to stay with for as long as we need who are also lending us a car, letting agent instructed. Just need consent from the mortgage company to let the house and to organise shipping. Our friends in Perth have said not to even consider shipping our entire house contents as you can get so many second hand bargains over there. So now I need to work out what the essentials are, get quotes on that and sell the rest. It looks like this is really happening. Very scary but very exciting :-)
  11. Got the job!! I sent my cv yesterday on the off chance there might be something for me. Had 20 minutes on the phone this morning and job done! None of the usual interview questions. It was just a chat. Can't quite believe it!
  12. I need help! I have got an interview for a clinical nurse position in 4 hours time. What's the best prep I can do in such a short space of time?
  13. Booked a one way flight for 8th August!!! Have booked Singapore airlines through flight centre. Bit gutted though as I can't choose our seats now because I didn't book direct with Singapore Airlines. I've booked a seat for my little one so we'll have 3 seats between us so I'm just hoping we don't get split up on the plane when we check in. Can't quite believe we're on our way!
