Hi All, We moved to Perth just before Xmas and love it. One of the things I found really useful was the free walking tour that the tourist information center (near to the main post office) do each day, althought I'm not usually one for walking the guide was really knowledgeable about all things Perth and even took us into the station to show us which were the cheapest train tickets to get and told us which banks opened at the weekend etc, it's the little things like that I wish we'd known before we moved out here as it would have just make those 1st couple of days a bit easier. Having said all of that, everyone I have spoken to/asked for help/directions in Perth has been really helpful and I am really glad we make the move. We flew over to Perth just before Xmas on Emirates and they did weigh the hand luggage too but let me on with 10kg...mind you I'm not sure if that was just because I was crying after just doing goodbyes. I'd def give the airline a call as I'm sure some let you bring more hand luggage if travelling with small children. Good Luck with the move.

It seems to depend what job you are doing we didn't need medicals or police checks because we aren't working in teaching or medical etc etc. If you do need them I'm sure you will hear soon....good luck with it all x PS...fab name by the way :biggrin:

Thanks! The waiting is a nightmare...just stick with it...easier said that done. When we were waiting for my oh's new employer to do there bit, we knew nothing until it was approved...and its really difficult not to keep emailing and calling....to be honest your hubbys employer probably doesn't know anything at the min as I don't think immi get intouch unless they need something...which is even more frustrating!! Good luck with it all and i hope you hear something soon x

Hi all, Just wanted to share...our visa was approved yesterday...and I thought seeing our time line might help people who are still waiting - Job Offer/Job Accepted - 1/10/11 Employer Approved 14/11/11, Nomination Submitted 18/11/11, Nomination Approved 2/12/11, e457 form Submitted 2/12/11 Visa granted - 6/12/11 We didn't need medicals or police checks and it all went through the Perth office. Good luck to everyone still waiting, this process isn't easy....but as my o/h keeps saying, if it was easy everyone would do it.....so you really really need to want it badly. Good Luck x

Just had to share that our Employer Approval has just come through today!!! Now a step closer yay! Hopefully the nomination and our paperwork will go through with out any hitches as we are soooooo ready to fligh over! I'm giddy now....don't know what I'll be like when the whole this is approved! Hope everyone else is getting on ok with the whole process.

wannabeozz - Sorry it won't let me quote your post for some reason so I hope you see this... Anyway my oh's employer has emailed today to say that they are coming to the end of the bits they have to do and we can hopefully start our section next week....it seems to be taking forever but in reality it's not that long. They haven't done this before so have had to start from scratch...I think they are doing as much learning as we are!!! Plus they are only applying for one position and aren't a huge company so I think it's been quite hard to manage all the planning they have to do and their growing work load within the company. Hang in there...I'm sure you'll get some news soon, where in Oz are you heading?

It seems to vary so much between different people....we are waiting on the 1st bit being completed too. We were told by someone else going through the process that it took them 3 weeks for the employer section. Just keep thinking however long it takes it will be worth it....but sometimes you just want it NOW!! Good Luck with it all.
