If your partner is still working in Australia and supporting the family they may not deem you as separated and therefore you will not be classed as a lone parent - this is one of the conditions of entitlement for Income Support. To claim Jobseekers allowance you will need to state that you are looking for work and go to the jobcentre to sign every fortnight but they will also look into your relationship status as in if your partner is supporting you from abroad. Bank statements will have to be provided for the previous 6months (including Australian ones). HRT's are carried out to see if you are planning on staying an not just stopping for a while to claim benefits. You should get child benefit no problem and perhaps child tax also.

Hi im just wondering if anyone knows whether DIAC contact our employers re work references. I got one from my supervisor but I cannot let my boss know that i am trying to move to OZ as they would be really annoyed and i could lose my job before i even get granted a visa!!! Im nervous as to how they will go about verifying references. Any ideas???:confused:
