  1. Hi, we finally got our visa granted last week and had previously provisionally booked a holiday rental in Quinns Rocks, (Perth Northern Suburbs), we'd researched the area a little and found that it was close to a couple of local harbours so assumed there would be a few welding and fabrication workshops in and around the area. My husband is primarily a fabricator/welder but really enjoys working with stainless steel and making decorative items ie boat rails, balcony railings etc. he has worked in a naval shipyard in the uk for the last 7 years and wants to get back into Stainless. After speaking to the lady who owns the rental in Quinns she told us she doesn't think there are many fabrication workshops in or around the northern suburbs! This is what we feared because we had been trying to find places online without any luck! It seems the main places for metal tradesmen are around the Bibra lake area?! Can anyone shed any light on this and maybe give us a nice place around there to start our search for accommodation again?! Maybe around Rockingham?! We are moving over April/May 2014 thanks louise x
  2. Ha ha! I'll change that now! Oops!
  3. Yes thanks, that's why it's confusing.... Why give an overall score if that's not really applicable?! we know we only get 10 points for that part. Gutting really!
  4. I know what you mean, we don't mind waiting so long as its all going in the right direction! And hopefully it is! thanks for your help!
  5. That's what I thought, are the bits we're doing now i.e. skills assess and IELTS what takes the longest? Don't suppose you can suggest how long roughly it'll take now until the visa is hopefully granted?! Just really want to get there now! Thanks
  6. Hi, just wanted a bit of advice on what we can expect to do next in the visa process? We are hopefully going to perth and hubby is applying as a metal fabricator. We have done the IELTS and my husband is doing his practical assessment for skills assessment in 2 weeks time. After that is done and (hopefully?!) passed what do we do next? Do we submit our EOI?! Im getting confused? The immigration website is confusing to me! Im sure we can work it out on our own but it would be handy to have other people's versions of what they did?! we seem to finally be getting somewhere with the process now! Any replies would be great! Thanks, louise xx
  7. I'm not sure? I'll ask him when he gets home! Where did you do your practical assessment? We live in sw England, wondered if he would have to travel far? Thanks for your help!
  8. Yep! Heard they're a bit rubbish?!
  9. We haven't lodged our EOI yet, doing the skills assessment first.
  10. Hi all, Just been contacted by skills select and they said some more information is required and we need to be assessed but they haven'tsaid how? There is the practical assessment and the technical interview. Will we need to do one or the other or both? We are applying as a metal fabricator and my husband didn't tick the box that said about using ccomputers in his work, because he doesn't really, although he could if he needed too. I am scared now that we won't pass the skills assessment but he should because he has done his chosen occupation including apprenticeship since he left school , 18 years ago! Any info or personal experience would be great to know! Thanks Louise.
  11. Hey all, just submitted our skillselect! Eekkk! Hubby is a fabricator and we've done it through vetassess. Just wondered what sort of processing times we were looking at to get a reply or decision? We live in Plymouth and can anyone tell us where he will have to do his practical assessment? We're going for a 190 visa to perth. So anyone with any helpful info or hints or tips would be gratefully received!! many thanks Louise IELTS 16/01/2013 level 7 SKILLSELECT submitted 02/02/2013 posted documents 18/02/2013
  12. Hi everyone, Just trying to get an idea of how to start the whole process of emmigrating to Oz. Myself, my Husband and 3 year old daughter want to start a new life. We are planning to come over on a 176 state sponsored visa, We're thinking about Perth for our first choice. My hubby is a welder and I am a Nail technician, the points would be scored purely on Daves job because my job isn't on the list. I have spoken to an agent from 'Visa Bureau' and she has been very helpful but we are not sure wether or not to use an agent? If so what are the main agents people are using? Any advice would be great!! Visa Bureau have said that we pay £1200 + vat for the initial consultaion and if we don't qualify we will get a full refund. Its a lot of money to hand over and just wondered if they were genuine and any good?! Any advice on our next step would be great!! Thanks Lou, Dave and Olivia xx
  13. Thanks - i am trying to find average wages for a stainless steel welder in NSW?! We want to be on the coast so Dave can work in boatyards. Any advice where to look? x
  14. Hi, Wondered if anyone can give us any info, we are applying under a 190 visa and have done Ielts, husband is a welder fabricator but has done his skills select as a fabricator. We have gone through vetassess and sent all the required documents off today, just wondered what sort of time scale we'd be looking at for getting a reply and what happens next? Any info gratefully received! Louise x
