  1. Hi all, we're moving to mandurah 1st dec and my son would like to find something as an apprentice mechanic, could someone plz let me know how to go about this. Can he apply to employers like here in uk or does it work differently in Australia and is there plenty out there for the recent school leavers. Any help would be much appreciated. If he can't find something he will just carry on with further education any ideas on costs for college etc? Alison.

  9. Hi just thought i'd give some advice, my oh went through this process a short time ago and was so worried about it, but when it came to it it was so stress free he could'nt believe he'd been so uptight about it. The guys doing the interview were so nice and laid back he said it was just like chatting with a workmate, he put him at ease and helped him along the way. Long story short it's not a test as such, just questions on the chosen skill and if there is something he does'nt know that does not mean he will not pass. Hope this helps and i'm sure there will be more posts on the subject that will be of use. Ali.
  10. congrats lexi might just be us soon xxx

    Which region of Wa?

Hi linda, we went to the visa-go seminar in edinburgh and the rep from WA told us they were recomending the peel area and south. hope this helps. My oh is also a painter and decorator and has been told by a family friend that ther is lots of building going on around these areas and tradies have plenty of well paid work. Alison.

  19. Still not sure, but looking south maybe halls head greenfields nearer the beach or harrisdale more in land. Will just have to check them all out when we get there might not end up living in any of them lol. We'll have to be near a good high school and college as my daughter is 15. I'ts all new to us as we've never been to oz so we'll just have a good wander around.
  20. thanks so much, we just can't wait to finally be at the end of the proccess i'm very stressed and not sleeping too well lol. I suppose the move will be much the same. I'ts great to hear from others who are at the same stage as ourselves and who have the same fears (i thought it was just me ha ha). I see your off to wa, what area?
  21. Fantastic, this seems to be a beautiful area. You'll be glad everything is finally on tra ck and the move organised. Hope you are all as happy as we are at the moment, and you settle in quickly. Good luck with the move and keep us uo to date with how your all doing.
  22. yeah there are only 5 or 6 in the whole of britain. The australian government choose these few hospitals and you can use any of them. We chose the one in Edinburgh as the only other one near is in manchester, and they could not see us any quicker. Get your meds booked quickly as they are very busy and ours are'nt until 16/6 this was the earliest we could get. Where are you off to?
  23. we're going on a 176 ss visa it seems the quickest way. we only applied on 8th of april and got co on 16th of may, everything seems to be moving so fast now so hopefully we'll be in perth soon.
  24. :biggrin:hi every one new to this site thats us been in the process to immagrate for about 18 months now and finally got our case officer last week  medicals booked for next month (june) just cant come quick enough now. ali and dougie
