    Help needed

Thank you blossom79 & Rupert i have checked on the sol list and there are 2 categories for me, Surveyor 232212, which is assessed by sssi & civil engineer 233211, which is assessed by engineers australia. in the uk I would be classed as a site engineer as I am based on site engineering and setting out but in Australia I have been informed that this is referred to as a surveyor, but the course I am studying for is as a civil engineer which I would also be classed as within the uk as it has 2 meanings I.e. Site based or working within an engineering office. my current paperwork is a diploma in site management through the ciob. you can see how confusing it is to me. regards

    Help needed

Good Morning/Afternoon or Evening confused is not the word, I have been wanting to move over to Australia for a good while but always thought I wouldn't be accepted if I didn't have my HNC in civil engineering. Well I'm halfway through my course now and I am wondering if now is the right time to apply for a visa. i have been working within the construction industry as a site engineer now for almost 11 years and this profession is what I would like to carry on with in Australia. i have other qualifications and have been told that I could apply with these. theres me, the wife, 2 kids ( 8 & 9) and the dog. I wouldn't be getting sponsored, can anyone help with which is the visa for us? would you recommend using an agent? or should I save some cash? Will it be difficult applying with the dog? Thank you for reading the post Best wishes Gaz
  5. Morning All My wife was talking to one of the mums at my children's school yesterday her and her family came back from Brisbane 2 years ago. She informed my wife that children don't start school until they are 6 and the education isn't up to our standards. My children are 5 and 7 and she told us that my eldest would be learning what he learnt nearly 3 years ago and my daughter would be getting ready to start school. Is this true, does anybody know what the situation is or can anyone help/offer information as it's quite worrying. Thank you Gaz
  6. Hello all I've been told tha if your renting a property you don't have to pay the council tax or water rates. Were interested in Brisbane can anyone help? Gaz

    Sore Knees

Not being cheeky but do you have any weight issues, had a bad back for a good 15-16 years but since I've lost some timber it's nowhere near as bad.
  8. Have you heard of people using the exchange rate of £1 = $2.2 ? If so what does it actually mean and where did it spring up from? Thanks
  9. Evening All Firstly thanks for having a look at my post, Just been watching the first few episodes of the new BBC series wanted down under. During the program they review a reality check I am just wondering if anybody actually did this themselves or has any idea of what information I should be looking at including in our reality check. Are their any of you that have actually gone through with the move to Oz and sat down and worked out the reality check and found it to be accurate, if so could you help me and my family out. Thank you again Gareth.
  10. Evening My family and I would be very interested in being considered for the opportunity that you are offering. I am currently employed within the construction Industry as Site Engineer. We are a family of 4 Myself 28, my wife is 29 and we have 2 children 7 & 5. Thank you for taking the time to read this e-mail Regards Gaz

    March Holiday

Thank you Your time & effort is appreciated.
  12. Morning Just a few questions honest. Me & my family are going to Brisbane (Narangba) on a 2 week reccie holiday in March next year, could do with some help as to the following questions. Can anyone recommend good family areas for us to visit and possibly check out the housing? We are hoping to visit a few schools to get a feel for the educational system any recommendations? I have been on the visa website and from what I can see there are 2 types of holiday visas, 1 is free the other is $75 but they both appear to be for the same type of visit which 1 is best suited to us? Whilst out there I am hoping to spend a day or 2 with a local employer as to see how they operate. Would I need the business visa for this? All answers and anymore info provided are greatly appreciated. Regards Gaz

    March Holiday

Morning All My family and I are going to Brisbane (Narangba) in March next year for a 2 week reccie holiday, does anyone have any suggestions for good entertaining days out for the family where they will be in awe at what Oz has to offer? We are due to stop over in Abu Dhabi for a few hours what amount would you recommend we take money wise for the airport?
  14. A friend of mine has recently returned to Oz from the UK, him & his girlfriend had their royal brunei flight cancelled from the comments i've been reading they were not impressed.
