  1. Hi, 1975 Rolls Royce Silver Shadow 1, aircon works, ive owned her 20 years, above average condition UK price about £8K Redbook $48,500 Aus market $17000 off to Perth
  2. Hi everyone, While we are on this subject, I would be interested in your views on the same, sorry to High jack your thread JayW. We are still in UK and have till 2016 to get to Perth however my two girls aged 11 have said they don't want to make a decision until they are a few years older. I am divorced from their mother. If I went with my now wife and their little half sister (My youngest) and they allowed their visa to expire, would they have this sort of trouble should they want to come after their visa expired? If they don't come would that effect my visa as not all of the people named actually turn up? I have a 176 visa and I am main applicant. (Please look at this black and white, I am also not sure I'll be able to leave them but at the moment we have the opportunity and are pushing forward with our plans)
  3. Thanks for the replys, to ask a few more questions, what does insurance cost for a container packed by the experts? And would it be considerably more if you packed yourself? I have seen prices of packing and shipping on here and I know it all depends on how much stuff etc but what does each part actually cost? Is the bulk of the money them coming and packing or is it the actual shipping. I suppose I'm trying to keep the cost down without really knowing what the costs are, I know that I can rent a large van (benefits of being old and having a Licence with lots of things I can drive on it) and drive our stuff down to the docks for a couple of hundred quid but its the costs beyond this I have no clue about!! Jase
  4. Hi everyone, Has anyone ever packed a container themselves? We dont live too far from Southhampton and I would be quite keen on taking the stuff and packing myself. Is this possible? Do you get time to take stuff and pack it in or do you have to pack it in one? Can you put a car in it and pack behind it (or in front). I hate having to pay people to do things that I can do myself!!:biggrin: Your experiences or thoughts please. Jase
  5. Hi I have seen Peugeots and Renaults in OZ but they are not popular, no french car is. There are dealerships, and mechanics will work on them, especially a UK one, I'll service it for you if you are going to WA :-). If you are going to keep it till it dies then bring it although if you damage it body parts might be hard to come by as if they do do a version of it in Oz it might have a slightly diffrent body shape. If you do decide to sell and buy a car in Oz I would probably avoid the Elantra (Sorry Kimsdu) as the reason they are cheap is because parts are expensive compared to other cars, unless you are going to buy one under warranty. Kia's are the same, great cars until you need to buy parts. Its the same in the UK you can buy the car cheap but parts are expensive for Korean cars. I don't know what the best car in OZ is to buy maybe someone who has lived there for a while might have a better opinion but the cars seem to be medium sized then large like the Falcon or Commodore, little cars like 107 or Corsa's (Holden Barina)are few and far between. This is my experience from visiting SA and WA other states might be diffarent.
  6. Hi, Just come back to UK after validating our Visa. Flew Qantas all the way with 3 kids. They were fab!! The A380 has a fantastic entertainment system enough to keep 3 kids entertained for the entire journey. They don't charge for a stop over in singapore either and , the best bit, they provided me with the little bottles of wine when ever I asked, which was quite often as I'm not a great flyer. Make sure you get the qantas all the way flights though, they do do a qantas/BA split where BA do the leg to singapore. I have done this split also and BA were fine but not as good as Q. Jase

Hi Francine, actually it might be 488, sorry , but this equates to around £240 I believe. It was worth it though.Singapore is a great, safe and family friendly place.

HI, We are in Perth at the mo and stayed in the Park Hotel, Clarke Quay. Its actually a little off Clark Quay and nearer Robertson Quay which is better because Clarke is the party area and Robertson is the family area. We are a family of 5 and they did us a deal on a suite which was $388 singapore dollars for room and breakfast, not bad for 5 of us. The suite comprises of a double bedroom and a lounge where the sofa turns into a bed. We are 2 adults, 2 nine yearolds and a 2 1/2 year old. When I booked I got the impression they wouldnt put another bed/cot in so we took littlens peppa pig blow up sleeping bag but on arrival they asked if we wanted a cot for her. They couldnt do enough and customer service was superb, we are staying for 4 days on the way back and I'm really pleased I chose it. its also a fairly new hotel and not a high rise like some of them its only 10 stories high. hope this helps, Jase
  10. Hi we are in Perth SOR with my 2 nine year old girls and our 2 1/2 year old. We are here for another 2 weeks and it would be good for the girls ( 9 year olds) to meet other girls of a similar age to get an idea about how other children the same age have found the transition. My girls are from my previous marriage and their mother has said they can emigrate if they want to , but they are only seeing it from what we do as a family on holiday. I know the kids are on HT at the mo so if youve got a spare hour and would like to meet at a park so the kids can bond let us know. We are currently in Rockingham. Thanks in advance, Jason and Anne
  11. Hi Everyone, We are in perth for a month validating our visas, been here 2 weeks and thoroughly enjoying it. loads for the kids to do and lots of work.Seen some lovely places to live both Sor and Nor. We are staying in Rockingham at the moment but its not somewhere Id like to live. Hope everyone doing ok?
  12. Hi Iron Chef, Whats the classic market like?. 1975 Rolls Royce Shadow 1 (not white) 130K Not ususal rust bucket and Ive owned it nearly 20 years. A/c, electric everything and it all works. Realistic UK price in current market £7-£8K Aus guide £14-17 so about same. I know that sometimes guides can be a bit out for the odd classic thats on its way up. Do aussies go for Rollers?
  13. Hi Debbie, What I did was to go to a local solicitor. If you go with all your docs and negotiate a deal for all of them. I did my qualifications,, certificates and all the stuff to do with my divorce and permission from my ex to allow the children to Emigrate (that included a visit from her to show her passport) and all this cost £50!!. I'm a police officer and police stations dont usually certify documents anymore (well not in Kent) because you have to have a station stamp and a police officer and most police stations dont normally have Police officers on the front counter. I know that you probably dont need all those documents done now but I found that as long as they were certified within a year of your application they werent questioned. So get them all copied and certified and speeds up your application. The only problem I had was the case officer didnt like the wording on the Statutory declartion even though I had got the wording from Australian High Commission in London!! But luckily the solicitor didnt charge me. :twitcy:Hope this helps, Jase
  14. I forgot to say if he is not a Police officer here then he couldnt apply for WAPOL if they came to UK to recruit. They stipulate at least 3 years policing experience. So probs best to apply when he gets there, my mate says that 41 officers left the force in Jan and 39 have left in February so there should be plenty of vacancies by the time you get over. Jase
