  1. P.S We know Perth area is not bad providing you shop around as in the UK and there's more pom's there so it can't be that bad. Going out next week for a month so will take notes. Will be down in Yallingup area the start of the wine regains
  2. Hi there we have had to make the decision due to my bad health and agree its getting very expensive over there, that's why they get such high wages, anyway back to your problem our agent was very ill so could not do it so we had to do it via the attached link. Good luck with every thing and wish you well. regards Joy & Ian Ramsgate Kent UK. https://www.border.gov.au/Forms/Documents/1446.pdf
  3. Hi Folks just a quick question since waiting 3 years for my application to go through I've been diagnosed with mesothelioma so cannot now proceed, now been allocated a case officer but alas my agent in Oz is now seriously ill in hospital so cannot cancel for me, does anyone know the link that I need. My agents wife sent me the e-mail but is not familiar with this sort of thing. Good luck to you all Ian & Joy Warren
  4. Hi there, Can you register a car in WA with a English driving license, we've been regular visitors to WA for the last 8 years spending more time here than in Kent UK, we brought an old 4x4 Jackaroo and registered it in my Oz son in laws name, but really need it in my name as we've applied for the 143 visa but that may take another 14 months or so. The transfer form asks for your WA diving license number so I may need to get one whilst here, if so how much. Thanks very much Ian Warren
  5. Hi Julie I thank you for all that info I now have a lot googling to do.
  6. Hi there Quoll, thanks for your input, yes we've been down the road of the granny flat, hmm don't want to be too close, we then become a permanent baby sitter, parents keep them, grandparents give them back, sounds the better option.
  7. Hi Alan We were told about 18 months from start to finish for the contributory parent (migrant) (class ca) subclass 143 visa and forever for the basic so will have to see what happens, many thanks for your input.
  8. I thank you Bongo for the info, we have already downgraded from a large bungalow in the S/E when the prices were high 2011 so have the cash to proceed its just the ongoing costs in Australia, I have to do some serious google searching again many thanks.
  9. Hi to one and all, we have recently started the ball rolling with the contributory aged parent visa (Oct 2014) and paid the first payment with an agent I am 69 and my wife 63. We have two married daughters in Oz and no others, our dilemma is can we afford it, we know our UK pension is frozen but we have a private pension and can afford to live comfortably in the UK, there's a lot of unanswered questions that we should know before we part with $95,000 ish. Our bond is frozen for ten years I believe so do we get interest on it, do we have to wait 10 years before our pension is topped up to Oz standards, do we have to pay for health issues (both well at the moment), some aged oz friends of ours gets concessions on living costs etc, will we get it if so and when, can we buy a property when the visa has been passed. We have been regular visitors to Australia for the past 8 years and have spent a fair amount of money here and have noticed the rising cost of living but the rise in the £ to the $ is helping at the moment but like in the UK you can shop around although you need more competition over here (come on Aldi & Lidl), UK residents have to pay for a TV licence Oz do not, UK have free NHS Oz do not etc etc Oz residents have to pay for a trailer license, a skippers licence, a fishing licence, you even have to pay a tax when you sell your home I believe. I could go on and on but you get the gist I need some straight forward answers from aged parents who have had to face this dilemma, I know this is a wonderful country, mainly because of the summers, but we need to be secure over here to see our 5 grandchildren grow up, 6 next week. We have approximately 18 months ish before the visa might be granted so need to know all the ins and outs. Please Help Kind regards to one and all Joy & Ian Warren,WA at the moment Kent UK in 3 weeks.
  10. Hi, my wife and I are aged parents of two daughters living in Oz who are permanent residents, I know about the wait with the CPU and the great cost of applying for it thanks to a other aged parents blogs on this issue, but regarding the non contributary CPU when applying for it offsure can we apply for it and still travel to Oz to visit our family's and on what visa, a bridging visa A or tourist visa as we travel once or twice a year. I am 67 and my wife 62 we have downgraded our house so have money in the bank but not to blow on the CPU visa as would like to buy a property with our family downunder if allowed. We still have close family in the UK so reluctant to apply for the non contrib CPU insure, as if I'm right are only allowed to be out of Oz 90 days at a time but would consider this option at a later date. One daughter has been there for 5 years married with 3 children the other emigrated 2 years ago with 2 children, its heartbraking for being here but thank goodness for Skype. Many thanks for any advise Ian and Joy Warren Dover UK.

  12. G'day guys we need some serious advise please, my wife and I are recently retired we have a daughter married to an aussie with family and living in Kalgoorlie and another daughter recently migrated with family on a 457 visa whilst waiting for the permanent visa, we have 4 grandchildren over there with another on the way. We travel over once or twice a year our recent was for 6 months. We would like to live there but the aged visa costs a lot of money, so what we thought apply for the visa that takes a long time, some say 12 years, then apply for a bridging visa whilst out there but can we still visit whilst that one is being processed, do we need a tourist visa, etc etc etc. We recently downgraded our house in the UK brought a smaller one and have money in the bank but am reluctant to pay out if all fails and a daughter may decide to come back to the UK Many thanks. Joy & Ian Warren
