<p>It sounds like you are settling in, I am under no illusions that it is going to be easy to start with but we can't wait to get going. Love to hear more of your experiences to date? How much influence do you think you have on your destination?</p>

<p>I did hear a rumour that the Gold Coast light railway project is being tendered which would be awesome! I guess we will just see how it goes. We have now excepted an offer on our house here, been through a load of grief with my parents cos they are upset about the grandkids (not us it would seem!!) and we have had our first international mover price our gear.</p>

<p>Do you feel that Leighton handled your affairs well so far and is there something different you might do if you started again?</p>

<p>How was the goodbyes in Scotland, we are not looking forward to that?</p>

<p>Hi Michelle, thanks for getting back to me and thanks for some great information!! Sounds like you've had a interesting experience so far:-) it is really interesting to hear about Leighton's workload, I heard much the same about 2010 going very quiet but 2011 opening up! We have agreed to come over mid Jan 2011 and they are talking about the lots of work in the Surat Basin and a big HV project in Townsville. I think I will be Brisbane based like you for a few months and then 'regionalised'!!</p>

<p>Good news on the visa! How long did that take you?</p>

<p>We sent off all our visa stuff about 4 weeks ago so are just waiting for that to go through.</p>

<p>Haven't done anything yet with removals, we are waiting to see what happens with location, apparently Leighton are still waiting to secure quite a bit of work which is taking longer than expected. We are targeting being over there by Xmas. I have a good contact in the recruitment industry down there who is close to the big contractors so he keeps me in the loop!</p>

<p>Just getting the house ready to go on market so 3 to 4 months from here would be ideal! Our eldest son starts Yr 1 in Sept so it would be good to get him through the first term in the UK and then start the new school year in Australia in late January 2012!</p>

<p>Love to hear how you get on with Nikki, are you still hoping for Cairns, we have looked at quite a bit of info about the suburbs around there and would be quite happy to start out there for a couple of years.</p>

<p>How's it going with you guys? Sorry for not being in touch for a while!</p>

<p>We have accepted the offer and returned the initial paperwork, with a copy of my passport about two weeks ago. We haven't heard much since then so I guess they are processing things.</p>

<p>We haven't done much else this end other than get some quotes on renting the house out and explored some options in houses for rent around Cairns and Rockhampton.</p>

<p>I am going to wait for some more solid feedback from leighton's before I do much else.</p>
