Hi I moved to Australia on my own, few years after doing a years working holiday visa, at first it was quite daunting but people seem to really try to go out of their way to help when you are solo. Hi to work in a child care centre you will need some kind of police check not sure what it is in Melbourne tho, and you will need a cert 3 in childcare to be an assistant educator or a diploma which allows you to be a Lead educator ( basically run a classroom) can work full time whilst studying these Good Luck with change in Career Vicky

Hey to be a group leader you need to hold an equivalent to the Aussie Diploma which is the uk NVQ 3, our diploma, BTEC etc any qualifications below this you are classed as an assistant, Im pretty sure that family day care is same need to have the diploma equivalent. Be warned though day care is very different compared to uk Nurseries took me a little while to get used too

Hiya cache NVQ level 3 in childcare, is equivalent of being an Australian group leader basically means you run a room and is the most desirable qualification a lot of people here don't hold it here so lots of work and money is pretty good too i am a casual group leader and am on $29 an hour
