  1. Petition your HR and mangament teams. We (as non voters) have no voice but companies have a voice. Our MD has already issued a statement syaing that the company supports at least grandfathering the benefit.
  2. So...the Goverment want a level playing field for Australian citizens and for overseas visitors by abolishing LAFH benefits..... If this is true then I will see a 17% cut in my take home pay! :arghh: Not the deal that I signed up for in May when I moved from Scotland to NSW. I've tried to read the consultation document: (http://www.treasury.gov.au/documents/2235/PDF/CP_FBT_LAFH_Benefits.pdf), but am still not really very clear - maybe there is someone on the forum that can clarify it.......? Is this total abolition from 1 July 2012 or it will still be there, but the employer must pay FBT on the LAFH payment...? If this is the case (total abolition with no softening measures), then please can the Australian Government implement the following policy changes: 1: Abolish the requirement for temporary residents to pay $4,500 per child/upfront for state schools in NSW. 2: Extend child benefits for temporary residents and subsidised child care; and 3: Extend full Medicare benefits from the current reciprical arrangement. This will make everything fairer. Your sincerely Northshore.
  3. We hope to be arriving ~7th May. We've got a week to settle in before work starts on the 16th May. It'll be a while before our bikes arrive though - they're being shipped groupage with Doree Bonner next week, so they will probably arrive sometime in September! We're staying in Maryville (right on the river) for the first four weeks and then going to look for rental properties.
  4. Thanks. The last closed door has just been opened! Yours can't take too much longer CazBob - cos we submitted on the same day! Fingers crossed.
  5. I've just checked the DIAC website and my family's visa application has been approved. :yellow_guy_smiling_ That leaves us a month and 1 week to sort things out before we fly out. I can't wait....! I've updated the spreadsheet - thanks Walber.
  6. I seem to be talking to myself!! :daydreaming: But that's OK. Just in case someone does a search on mountain biking and Newcastle..... Now found some information, which should guide any future Google searches(!): Glenrock - in Newcastle Singleton - west of Newcastle Mt. Sugarloaf - downhill stuff Awaba - cross country - Hunter Mountainbike Association www.bikely.com - finds 12 routes in and around Newcastle - although 3 or 4 of these are mad routes - covering all of NSW.....
  7. 12/03/11 - Application Processed Further 12/03/11 - Further Information Required Would be nice to know what information was required.....!
  8. Still no dance in the office - come on hurry up!! :skeptical: Ahh... that's better!! :biglaugh:
  9. Nice one Havenmarra. Is that 5 weeks?
  10. Hi Caz, We're off to Newcastle/Hunter - land of wine, beaches and coal (!!). The migration agent has said 4-6 weeks processing time. But, I don't know how accurate this is.....we'll see.
  11. We've just submitted our application and didn't need any meds for myself, my wife or our 3 kids aged 6, 4 and 3. I think it all depends on your medical history...
  12. Does anyone know of any decent mountain biking (XC or downhill) routes near Newcastle? Any local info would be really appreciated.... There doesn't seem to be much turning up under a Google search.
  13. Application submitted on 1st March for 457 visa. Contract with employer due to start on 16th May. Here's hoping that it's authorised before mid April.......
