1. You can go to any solicitor. I went to one in Naas and I was charged only €10 to certify loads of documents for my skills assessement. A friend of mine went to a solicitor in Rathcoole and was charged €20 for his documents. Not to expensive
 2. Hi, Can anyone tell me, when calculating my years of work experience, do I in include the 4 years of my apprenticeship or is it post apprenticeship only? I have 4 years post apprenticeship expierience which gives me 5 points, but if I include my apprenticeship I have 8 years expierience giving me 15 points. This would mean that I would have enough points scoring a 7 in the IELTS for a visa instead of an 8, and takes a bit of pressure off:wink::jiggy:
 3. No, only got the paperwork in the post last week. Spent too long filling out the forms!! Also I'm based in Dublin so I'm not sure where the venue for the practical will be, hoping it's not London. Jimitheche what PPE are you bringing to the practical? The electrician fact sheet from Vetassess states that electrical workers are required to wear electrically rated footwear at all times. None of my safety boots have an electrical rating. Wouldn't like to turn up without the right PPE after paying so much for the test.
 4. Can you post a link to these other posts? How is it possibleto get your electrical licence without going to a registered training organisation such as Vetassess or Victoria University to be assessed?
 5. Hi Michael, I am also an electrician aiming to migrate to WA under a GSM 176 route. My understanding of the process is : 1st complete a free tradeset report from the Vetassess site. 2nd complete the vetassess SR1 form and send tradeset report, evidence of training and work expierience to Vetassess (cost aus$600). 3rd undertake a 1 day practical test from Vetassess (cost aus$1500 ). If successful get a offshore technical skills record (OTSR) 4th apply for state sponsorship (cost aus$ ?) 4.5 You may have to undertake an English test depending on your expierience and age for extra points for the new system 5th apply to the DIAC for a GSM 176 visa (cost aus$2575) 6th Get visa, go to Aus and apply for a provisional electrical license using your OTSR 7th Complete Gap training and get full electrical license. Hope this helps, but unfortunatly as I'm only at the Vetasses stage I can't be sure it;s 100% accurate. Best of luck

Thanks, no1spark.

I have been studying the Vetassess electrical fact sheet which shows the correct method for electrical disconnection and reconnection, so should be all right there. But I am finding filling out the initial Vetassess application to be a pain due to the the questions being very general. It'ill be worth it in the end but it's a long slow process!!

With regard to PPE did you wear electrical gloves or safety glasses on the day of the VET test?

there is a disconnect & recconect on the VET exam you must do this correct or you fail the entire day
