  1. We (my wife,2 children and I) moved over to perth on the 7th November last year on a 457 visa whilst already having lodged my 175 visa and I must say it is probably the best thing I have ever done esp for my children. I thought I would be homesick and that it would take a bit of getting used to but from early on, I knew this was the place for me. I love it here. I cannot see myself going back to Scotland. I am travelling to Singapore on the 27th Jan to validate our PR visa. I cannot wait to be a PR of Australia. I will always be Scottish in my heart but I hope that this can be my home!!
  2. Taken from my 457: VISA EVIDENCING FOR VISA HOLDERS OUTSIDE OF AUSTRALIA Not all visas for travel to Australia require a label to be placed in your passport as evidence that a visa has been granted. Certain Subclass 457 visa holders may travel label-free to Australia if they hold a passport from an eligible country. The complete list of eligible label-free countries for the Subclass 457 is available at: http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/skilled-workers/sbs/visa-labels.htm. If your passport country is not listed on the above mentioned website, please attend one of the department's offices to have a visa label placed in your passport prior to your travel to Australia. A visa label can be put in your passport at any of the department's overseas offices with visa evidencing facilities.
  3. My family and I (from Dundee) will be moving to perth on 7th November. Only 4 more days !!!! Looking forward to metting up with some nice people. See you all there
  4. Im flying out on the 7th November to Perth and I cannot wait. Getting in my car yesterday morning was 1 degree!!!! and frost on the windscreen, in mid October!!!!!! Although I have a sneaky suspicion I will miss this type of weather in the near future. All the best mate.
  5. Ah that sucks, not to worry though I may look into ANZ if I can get another 20kg pp. I will await responses to the OP to see if anyone uses ANZ.
  6. Is there a link for this? I have already booked flights with emirates but if I can get up to 50kg per person, that would be great  And it would make my bank choice easier . thanks
  7. good luck mate, All i can say is there is a certain "way" of doing the test. Once you have practiced you will see what I mean. When practicing you will get an answer wrong and then look at the correct answer and go "ah now I get it". Its tricky, when I tell people about emigrating and the IELTS they always say "an english test, you must have passed that no problem" but what the dont realise is, its pretty tough and very strict. Losing a few marks can be the difference of an 8 or a 7. What visa are you planning on getting?
  8. The processing of the 457's seem to be all over the place. Some people are 3-4 weeks and some are only 48 hours. We were at the lucky end of the scale so didnt even know we had been allocated a CO. Good luck, it will all happen soon enough.
  9. Reading all these posts about the farewells are making me emotional. Im not really emotional type but when it comes it comes in waves, its my wife who has been doing all the worrying and crying. We leave on the 7th November heading for Perth. Have lived in dundee, scotland all my days and before now I was always seeing the negatives about the place but now that im going I see alot of places from my childhood that make me smile  Agree with the lists being endless, I just hope we are ready. Finish work at end of October so have 1 full week off. Hoping for some time off before i start work there, say start of December hopefully. I am super excited one day where i feel i can burst inside and then other days where I have to start a new job and new everything and say goodbyes and it puts me down. Not long now.......
  10. Agent applied on 21/9 and visa granted 23/9.:biglaugh: Cannot believe it, so exciting. What a rollercoaster. Thanks to everyone on the site for all their posts, reading some of them really helped. Time to try and find some short term accommodation and flights. Need to write my notice too. So many things, so little time.......
  11. I think its because of the amount of iphones that are jailbroken and can download the apps for free so the developers have changed startegy so that you have to pay for "extras" ingame.

    IELTS Results.

Good luck if you decide to re-sit. I remember doing my IELTS a few months back, its nerve wracking to say the least. My main worry was writing as its down to interpretation. Luckily I managed to get a 8.5 in it. Good luck again
  13. not an expert on the subject but as i am in the same boat going for a 457 visa, im positive you need to have a job offer and sponsorship by a company. If you leave that company you have 28 days to find a new employer to sponsor you. Also if you are granted a 457 visa your wife will be able to work full time i think. There may be different variations but i thought the 457 is a 4 year visa and not 2. Anyway good luck
