  1. Thanks for the info... I have just worked out that when I take out holidays etc from my current contract it wouldn't be much greater than what I would get in perm here in Sydney too, so my next role might just be a permanent one, but where is the big question for me. Yes, i've been looking through seek for some time now and but whilst it gives you a feel for the number of jobs, it doesn't give you a feel for the competition for these jobs. Do you find yourself in long term contracts? if not do you have much of a gap between them? This would give a good indication of how hot/cod the market it. Thanks
  2. Hi, thank for the info....much appreciated. As a matter of interested what type of roles are your hubby and friend in? Thanks
  3. Hi, I'm considering a move west away from the busy-busy, expensive-expensive life in Sydney. How is the IT job market in Brisbane? I have 18 years industry experience in both technical and managerial roles, mostly in financial services. I'm open to long term contract or permanent. I've been on Seek looking and it certainly comes behind Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane (in that order) in terms of number of jobs available. - Is IT a growth market at the minute in Perth? - Are there many IT jobs in the mining industry? - are they usually city based? do you need prior mining experience? - Is the contract market bouyant? Look forward to your replies. Rucati

  5. Hi - it is good to know that us females all feel the same. We are here now 6 months with 3 kids. We are both working full time and finding that hard. It did take me around 3 months to get a job and I just pestered agencies. At one point I was going to change my name (irish & hard to pronounce)... but got there eventually. I just keep on thinking that things are not too good back home on the job front and you know it is getting easier or maybe I am just having a good weekend:)- We live in the North Shore so if you are local let us know.......
  6. Hi we moved to Oz in April this year with 3 kids - 9, 7 & 3. We lived here 12 years ago int he Eastern suburbs and before we came out again we thought that we would be living in the East. Decided not too - we now live in west Pymble - alot more space for the same money in the East. People out here have really made us feel welcome. My hubbie gets the train into Circular Quay each morning and I work in North Ryde. Upper Northern Shore is great place.....
