  1. Cheers BritChick, im off again to hand some more cv's out lol. Ahh, they may think its weird but have any of them done it? Im sure you'll love it out here and it wont take you long to make some friends and im sure they will be friends for life! Not long to go for ya!!
  2. Hey Ike, i replied to your post about the car, lemmie know if you need more info. I was quite lucky as my mum and dads friends have got friends that own a mechanics and one of thier sons was selling his motor off so i got mates rates as well, its an idea to maybe find a car with an LPG conversion as well. All the best with your plans as well.
  3. Hey guys, I arrived here on my WHV last week and living with my mum and dads best friends who are out here, got myself a car, a bank account and a sim card sorted which is good. Gonna go out handing my Cv's to all the companies around the area tomorrow. Weather is gorgeous, people at shops etc are so polite and friendly, only been here a week but i reckon i could really get used to this lol. Fingers crossed i can find myself a work sponsor! Not much more to say other than sun, sea and beer!! lol
  4. Hey Ike, I been here a week and just purchased a car, its best to buy a car with a rego on it already because if it has ran out of rego then you will have to take it to the 'pits' (basically an mot testing centre). If it has rego left you can just renew without having to get it tested, however im told if the car looks really banged out you can be stopped by the police and they will put a sticker on it which you will then have to take it to the pits. I also had a small issue with the registration document as it asks you for your Aussie licence number and its different numbers and such to the uk licence, so i went up the licensing place and got an Aussie licence for a year.(Costs about $60) It also helps for ID purposes when buying alchohol etc. I done all this in WA so i dont know if its different for other states. Hope this helps Richard
  5. I find the ones that the ladys wear that cover 3/4 of thier face funny. Me and my mates call them fugly glasses cos they are obviously hiding something underneath them HUUGE gigs lol. I think also its mainly a fashion statement. If somebodys gone out and spent a couple of hundred quid on a pair, the faintest bit of sunlight and you'll see them wearing thier 'designer' shades.
  6. Sounds like a mega faff around for you guys Im heading out on a WHV, so this wouldnt appy for me would it? im able to just use my normal drivers licence whilst im out there? My old man is getting on at me to get one of these IDP(International drivers permit) but ive read up about it and it just says recommended for Oz on the website. Done some more digging and here is a link to help with Working holiday visa licence stuff. http://www.transport.wa.gov.au/licensing/20668.asp (Basically says that you can use your normal licence because i will be a visitor)
  7. Like this thread! I, like most of you here am going out on a WHV, 15th March, heading to Perth area on my billy as well lol. There are alot of people in the same boat, and im just gonna go out there with an open mind, a massive smile and some Aussie dollars and see how it goes lol. (Well ive organised just a little not too much tho)
  8. Thanks! i hope i do as well, perhaps i may even get sponsored if all goes well! Im afraid i am from Yarmouth, not the most... exotic of places lol Where you from?
  9. Aint gonna happen!! Scott Parker is a good mate of mine and i gave him a tenner to break Stevie G's legs, mwahahaha!! Lol, should be a good match, we always seem to bottle it in Permiership games, its like in cup games there is no pressure so we play good footie... But when its a league game. Oh dear. :arghh:
  10. Im heading to the Perth area in March, just on a WHV, but my mum and dads best friends have a son and a daughter out there my age so they will be showing me the ropes. Im pretty sure there is plenty to do because when i check on thier facebook, they're either getting drunk or doing an activity of some sort!
  11. thanks for answers guys! Its mainly for my ipod cos the battery dont last very long listening through big headphones hehe. I suppose if my battery dies ill survive Kiki... just!
  12. Wow, susie thats awesome! Put a piccy up id love to see him/her Im afraid im going with the standard option and heading to Perth, mainly because i have a couple of rellies and my mum and dads best friends are in Port Kennedy and said they would put me up until i can establish myself. My flight is booked for the 15th of march and im coming over on a Working Holiday Visa to, as you would say 'test the water' lol. Im a vehicle paint sprayer by trade and hoping to find a possible work sponsor while im out there if all goes well. Im only 24 and have been made redundant twice from work already, so hoping for something more secure out in Australia. Sorry if i waffled on lol. How old is the Joey?
  13. Thanks for welcome Susie Also thanks Tony for comment, like i said i have no doubt in my mind that i will get endless help from this site, which i suppose is why i started this thread because im already feeling passion towards this site. Suppose i better get that Prozac on order!
  14. I was definatly not being condesending when i started up this thread, i really hope you do know the meaning of the word lol. And if you found it pointless, why did you comment? Im sure if i found something pointless, i would just ignore it like most people do? Anyways, this is exactly what i mean, what do you think people who are new to this site are going to think of this thread or many others? Cheers Shane as well, i just find it hard if Peach was not being sarcastic, why wouldnt he/she have said something like what you have said or the others that have posted on this thread? I can understand that many seasoned veterans on this site may feel like its groundhog day for them, but you have to remember we all start from scratch at one point and if you havent got any time or patience then dont bother commenting....
