  1. Hi all, We fly to Perth tomorrow and I have managed to lose my driving licence, luckily we are getting picked up at the airport so that is ok, but please tell me that it is not the end of the world as this could cause a massive headache if it does cause a massive problem. Has anyone lost it in Oz and managed to work round it???? Stressing a little bit............... Cheers all for your help. JTC
  2. Now why would they want to do something as logical as that! that would be too easy!
  3. You could always get a boat?...... Or, you could just deal with it.....
  4. Nothing to do with work, work is going really well and i just missed out on a £5k pay rise due to me moving, gutted, but it (the move) is about the family not work,
  5. LOL, They wouldn't need to edit it that much with me!!!! I would only say something out of hand and the editors job would be done, I have the innate ability of being able to put my foot in it all the time... Last day of work tomorrow, not gonna lie, am a little sad to leave, then its the xmas do and leaving party, its gonna get messy.......

    Form 80

Form 80 is a pig of a form, best just go head down and spend an evening or three filling it out.
  7. I am over it, hence my fate comment... better to get things off your chest then to store them up! i'm now concentrating on what BBQ to buy!
  8. I couldn't give a monkeys if I was judged, but it was what they offered, a free property house hunting team, take away the cameras and that service costs good money, Phil (Spencer) is a relocation agent by trade (not that he would be the presenter) but if you were to pay someone to house hunt for you, you can pay circa 1-5% of the property value....that was my drive behind going on the show. anyway, can I have a pint of Bitter please....
  9. I cannot believe we did not make the final cut for the new property show to be filmed next year. I cannot go into reasons why, as it will just lead to another full scale war on here (akin to one of the last threads I started...... Think I just gave the answer away....) but it has really pissed me off. but I believe in fate, so there must be a reason why.... anyway, last day of work this Friday, last day commuting like a sardine on the Northern Line, off to Perth next week, Jog on cold weather! :xmas30:
  10. Spot on! 10 points! I know, last week of work then time to get annihilated!!!:xmas16: started to say our final goodbyes to some family members today.... #itsonlygoingtogetworse....
  11. we leave in two weeeeksss... Shiiiiiiit!!! finish work next Fri, crimbo do that night, gonna get rat arsed, then we all fly the following Friday.... "This is it... Don't get scared now" (10 points for whoever can place that quote from a film) At the mum in laws now.... house sold.... car sold..... stuff packed.....and could potentially be on the new house hunting TV series to be filmed in Oz next year!!! Scary times ahead!
  12. Hi BD, will send you an email when I get a break from everything, hopefully by the weekend. cheers JTC

  15. Hi all, BensDad, long time no speak, how you keeping? Well, we arrive in 6 weeks, and so far I have 3 interviews lined up 2 the day after I arrive and one a few days after. One of the 3 initially said I meet the criteria but cannot offer me an interview because I am not in Oz, but do contact us if you think about emigrating one day.... I pointed out to her that I arrive (as it is stated on my CV and covering letter) in mid Dec, email back straight away saying.... ah, missed that when can we interview you! lol Well, I don't hold out much hope, but I suppose If I throw enough **** at the wall, something will stick! Will keep you all posted.

    Grrrr!

Who started that poxy thread about 'moving to Pommie areas', what a prick.... I think, in my humble opinion, that someone not just the OP can have too much of a good thing, i.e Krispy Kremes, I love them, but always eat too many and feel sick, then I take a break, say a week and then have another one. I think you can see my point, don't leave forever, but if you feel you have had a bit too much stress from forums, posts etc... take a little break and come back when you feel ready to. Be it a week or a month etc... After all absence make the heart grow fonder! or was that absinthe??? I hope you can see the meaning of my post, and don't see it as a 'see ya later' comment! FYI I had one and a half Krispy Kerems today! god dammit I love them! But I didn't over do it for once! only because there were none left Cheers JTC
  17. People have gone slightly off track, the reason why non speaking people congregate in certain areas in any country is easy to understand, (Granted, I did mention Brits in Spain) But when you are an English speaker in an English speaking country, why would you actively seek to live with your fellow brits.. We are heading to Freo, why? because we have aussie cousins living there. Plus Freo is akin to what we are used to, i.e waking distance to a high road, and it is a lovely area, with everything we need (school wise and close prox to the perth CBD), and I believe it is pretty mixed culture wise.
  18. have booked John Mason and they are coming around in a couple of weeks, will keep you posted on how it all goes, both the packing and at the other end. Insurance wise we are using insure your move, I think it was about £20 cheaper than going with JM. Cheers JTC
  19. I flew to LA with my sister when we were 11 and 12 (in 92') we flew with Virgin and they moved us up to first class to keep an eye on us for half the journey! happy times! So yes, at 16 I would (Saying that, I joined the Army at 16 so going on a flight at that age is not an issue.......)
  20. I'm not saying its right or wrong, birds of a feather and all that. But the question you have to ask is, is it wrong to move to the other side of the world only to locate yourself right in the middle of a 'little England'...? (or your country! best to keep everyone happy! and involved, how PC of me! *pats himself on the back*) I digress, Pros and Cons, i.e Housing could be cheaper, moving to an area where there are people in the same boat as you, and on the other hand, do you integrate as much as you should with the natives...(Noun - A person born in a specified place or associated with a place by birth, whether subsequently resident there or not, or a Local inhabitant - over a period of time) Is living in a heavily 'Pom Populated' area just like living in the Costa Del Crime? :policeman: where you have a 'them and us' culture? For us, for now, we are moving to a less PP area as we have Aussie cousins and will live near them. But when you mention certain areas of Perth they balk at the notion of living there due to it basically being England on the coast. Obviously, this happens across the length and breadth of Oz. (you could mention here the examples in the UK of mass social movement from countries all round the world to certain areas in the UK, however speaking a different language and having totally different customs makes those examples irrelevant in the above...best keep it topic specific....) Cheers JTC
  21. So, Went to Edinburgh one last time before leaving the UK, Spent a year there 7 years ago and loved every minute of it, but the missus took me away there for my birthday and one last goodbye as we have no family ties there so tend not to visit. Its mad to think, as I did on the train back, that we may never go back there. Of course depending how the move goes, our UK visits may only go as far as our family in London and Wales. Edinburgh is one of the best 'looking' cities I have been to, not just for its setting, the history and architecture is immense and returning after such a long absence does help by staying in the 'Scotsman' and eating in the 'Witchery'. (FYI the breakfast in the Scotsman is unreal, Haggis and black pudd..:notworthy:) Its a little bit crazy to think that over the next few weeks as we prepare to leave we will potentially not visit those parts again, wherever they may be. So, for now it is goodbye Scotland, and Wales (said our goodbyes to the Valleys in the Summer) and soon it will be goodbye England!..... And Hello Australia!... But who knows for how long!
  22. Well, its better to speak Mandarin than French! I cannot understand why UK schools focus on French, though I believe things have changed somewhat since I went to secondary school (German, French and Spanish on offer for GCSE's) Spanish and Mandarin are the languages to learn...
  23. What will be will be, it will all work out for the best, I firmly believe in Fate. I take it your house isn't in London?
  24. So you wouldn't get in this lift then???? (it gets interesting from 30 seconds in...)
  25. So I hear, This will upset many Star Wars fans, but to be honest, I couldn't give a monkeys. That is all, Thank you.
