  1. We are relocating to Melbourne from Sydney and have found a few areas we are interested in but can't decide so opinions would be appreciated! We like the look of Sanctuary Lakes/Point Cook on the West Side and Keysborough, Waterways and Sandhurst on the Eastern side. We would like to secure a rental in a newer build estate, in a nice family area that is relatively safe We want a good primary school for our 4 and 6 yr olds, we are open to public or private My husband works in Port Melbourne so need easy travel I haven't got work as yet but the likely place would be near the CBD a when I do We want somewhere that is easy to be able to meet new people (having fellow Poms around would be nice as well!) What areas would tick these boxes?
  2. Hi I'm Liz, I'm 36 and husband 34, we have a 5 yr old girl and 3 yr old boy. We have been in Oz for 3 yrs now, but just moved to this area, would love to meet up with others either in wk for coffee or to socialise at weekends
  3. Is anyone interested in either a recaro newborn-9mths car seat or an isofix 9mths-4 yrs both from uk?
  4. We have lived in North Lakes for over a year now and feel really settled, it really depends on personal choice really which you won't know until you get here. There is a lot of building and development in North Lakes so its a very new area. We live nearer the lake so the properties and land size is bigger and also older and more established then at the back, it really depends on your budget and type of property you are looking for. Mango hill is also a good area with some nice good size houses. We like NL/MH as its near to all amenities, sports, parks, it's not too far from the beaches and commute into the CBD is fine, obviously at rush hour then there is traffic but again depends on what you are used to in a commute, my husband commutes in regularly and doesn't have a problem with it, he says it takes around 30 mins. There are 3 main primary state schools in NL and mango hill, North Lakes state college which is from prep to 18 and has around 2000 pupils, then there is also mango hill primary which is new, small and has a great reputation and Bounty Boulevard primary, the primaries depend on where you live as they are quite strict with catchment areas but if there is a school you like it's always worth trying to apply, may be worth arranging a tour of the schools to see which suits. The primaries then feed into NL state college or I think Kallagangur but I'm not definite about that. There are also quite a few private schools in the area which are a lot cheaper than in the UK but its all personal preference really as to what suits your family. Hope the move goes well for you and if you have anymore questions just ask, if you fancy a meet up when you get over let me know, we have a 4 yr old and 2.5 yr old as well.
  5. We live in nearby north lakes, have a 4 yr old girl and 2 1/2 yr old boy. He plays football through little kickers, there are loads of classes around the area. If you need to know anything or fancy a meet up just let me know.
  6. Yeah north lakes definitely has mixed reviews. We love it here and are really settled its close to all amenities and with the shopping centre planned to be completed by the end of 2015 with cinema, entertainment and more shops its definately growing! We chose north lakes as thought it would be easier to meet people and socialise and find activities for the kids close by which we have done. We are only renting so not bothered about house prices etc and can move if we wanted. We are at the front of north lakes near the lake which are older properties and more established. We have a 920 sqm plot so we are not squashed but I know the newer builds at the back are a lot smaller. There is also mango hill across the road from north lakes which is still close to all amenities but doesn't seem quite as squashed as the back of north lakes or if you are wanting more rural type area then narangba, kallangur, dakabin and those sort of areas are close by. Until you get here though and have a look for yourself and get a feel for the different areas its difficult as it really does boil down to personal choice in the end and what you are wanting from the area you want to live.
  7. We live just down the road in North Lakes, we have a 4 yr old girl and 2 yr old boy, if you fancy meeting up when you get here let me know, good luck with the move!
