  1. You can get registered out here as a nurse with a diploma, I just have! As previous posts have suggested allow a lot of time for APHRA, mine took about 4 months in the end, though they did tell me that I was prioritised as I had a job offer. I applied for a grad year program over here which I think may have helped with getting on the register but ended up starting it 2 months late as rego didnt arrive in time.
  2. Hey all! Have just seen your post and were hoping we could maybe join? We've been in Melb a couple of months this time and have made a few friends but are always interested in meeting more people, esp when there's beer involved!!
  3. Oh no! Saw this too late, been having a bit of a hectic time at the mo trying to secure some short-term accomodation that doesnt involve either living in a backpackers or costing us an arm & a leg! Let us know next time and we will be there! Hope you all had a good night.
  4. Hi, we are looking for short term accomodation too and are struggling to find anything reasonably priced. Can I ask who you are using? Thanks
  5. Hi, I arrived in Melb a few weeks ago after spending a year travelling the rest of oz. I am a mental health nurse too. Has your sister applied for registration yet as that can take a long time to get through. She shouldnt have too much probs getting sponsored here, they love UK nurses! I'm currently being sponsored by Healthscope - has she tried them? They sponsor a lot of UK & Ireland nurses, they don't always advertise but if you get in touch then there may be positions. Healthscope is a private hosp & one of Oz's biggest companies, can't say what they are like to work for as I'm still waiting for my rego to come through before I can start
  6. Hi, did you guys meet up? Me and my hubby arrived here about a month ago and are looking to meet like minded people. We're living on St Kilda Road at the mo (not in St Kilda but just outside the city) but can get a tram/train anywhere.
  7. Thanks for the above link. I've put my paperwork in for my rego and it's taking so long that I've been starting to worry and imagine what can go wrong but you've put my mind at ease now.
  8. Hi, I'm new to Melb and didn't see this thread until too late. If you ladies are arranging another meet up I would def be interested in joing if that would be ok. A little about me: I'm 28 from Somerset and a mental health nurse, well I will be when my rego comes through. My husband and I moved here properly 4 weeks ago and because I cant work yet I havent really been able to meet anyone new, so am starting to get homesick and am really missing my girls from back home. So like I said, if you do arrange another meet I'd be interested in joining if ok?
