  1. You are incorrect by saying that LPAB won't assess the GDL without an LPC because I have read of another girl who did have hers assessed at LPAB and from my indication on the phone it seems I can be hopeful of an assessment and some exemptions. I'll let you all know what that outcome is. I agree with the info about the uniform principles and that is very helpful! Just the above part was not completely accurate. I also felt you were quite harsh in the way you spoke to someone who clearly is in distress. I personally would have been kinder, but we are all different.
  2. You are completely incorrect. Why do you insist on passing on flawed information whilst adding to the confusion the OP clearly has? Your tone is very abrupt and unsympathetic. Have some sensitivity around such matters and don't be so judgmental. Im in a similar situation and Last week I spoke to the LPAB in NSW and a very helpful woman told me that applying for an assessment with a UK GDL (without LPC - I made this explicitly clear) is perfectly fine. She said she doesn't know what the rules are in Victoria but in NSW LPAB do count the core subjects of a GDL for an assessment and you could be prescribed 12 units extra. Then it's up to you where you try and study - shop around with an assessment from LPAB at various universities. UNE is one option. You can study an LLB with them via distance learning & take your exams in a centre in Melbourne if youre in VIC. Apparently they do recognise GDL core subjects and grant exemptions for those. UNE are very well equipped for questions regarding overseas qualifications too. So the OP could try going via NSW if VIC won't assess her. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
  3. I believe the board that assess legal qualifications in Victoria is the body which the OP is in correspondence with already - The legal Board of Examiners http://www.lawadmissions.vic.gov.au/overseas_applicants The problem she is having is that someone at the board is telling her she is not eligible for even an assessment.
  4. Mine took 1 monthish ?!?!? I lodged my de facto partner visa FULLY FRONT LOADED on 27th September 2011 in Melbourne Temporary residency GRANTED: 3rd November 2011 I cannot believe how fast I was granted it!! 2 years to go before I get PR ...roll on 2014! Some info that might help others out: My girlfriend and I have been living together 1.5 years, yes we are lesbians and no that doesn't effect the outcome despite what Julie Gillard wants  Submitted 120 pages of evidence, with a contents page, chronologically ordered including photos, emails, texts, receipts of everything - gifts we bought for each other and flowers sent to each others, cards. ALL WERE SCANNED AND PRINTED IN COLOUR. Bank statements to prove our purchases plus all our utility bills. We have a joint account too for savings. 8 Statutory declarations from her family and a few mutual friends. All the official forms were TYPED on PDF not written to make it easier to read. Took us about 7 months to actually finish the application!!! Long slog but worth it!
  5. Hi everyone, Firstly I just would like to say how useful and great this forum is, I have found so many answers to my questions. I don't know if this is the correct place to post about timelines of partner visas but here is mine for Victoria: Submitted a fully front loaded partner visa (de facto) application on 27th September 2011via courier to melbourne partner visa applications. Received an email immediately that date pretty much saying they received it. Told it would be 10 months waiting! Got a registered mail letter on 7th November 2011 saying I had been granted the temporary residency part of my visa!! WOO HOO!!! I can still hardly believe it was that quick but I have a theory that because I sent a request to have the 6 month WHV work restriction lifted, it probably made them have to dig out my file and see to it, thus they made a quick decision! I am gay and was very worried they would discriminate somehow but turns out they didn't and I had an easy ride! Good luck to everyone applying...front load your applications if you can! S
  6. I'm so glad I can go into the DIAC at Melbourne and physically hand it. I have over 90 pieces of evidence chronologically ordered in a folder which I really didn't want to have to post in (mainly for the price I'd have to pay!) especially as I live in the CBD! Great news, thanks guys!
  7. I've been filling out the forms for the same visa and it didn't ask for my (applicant) employer details it just asks for my sponsors employer details.... is that correct or has anyone seen something different or have I misread?
