  1. My main concern now is the frozen applications and the retrospectivity aspect. The Committee gave a good response on their retrospective stuff, but finally they passed on all the stuff on the Senate. Quite interesting reading here: http://www.aph.gov.au/~/media/Committees/Senate/committee/scrutiny/scrutiny_digest/PDF/d08.pdf?la=en I have some plans, and I don't want my family locked in the country, but we have already spent overseas about a year within the last 4, so basically we can't go anywhere now.
  2. I wonder what happens in my case. I'm already a citizen, but my wife and children are not, we have already submitted, and eligible under old and new rules. The only thing that may affect the application is if my wife fails ielts. So, what are they going to do then ? they will grant children with citizenship, and skip my wife but will invite her on the ceremony or what ?
  3. I can vote, moreover, i'm in Dutton's electorate area.
  4. I live in Dutton's electorate area, and sent him an email recently saying that I'm not going to vote for him because of these new rules.
  5. Thanks for the explanations, but still not clear why all our applications are on hold then ? Why they actually have already put the requirement about competent English posession on the DIBP site? Is this ok to do like that before the law actually came in effect ?
  6. I think it's all more for partners who were waived the IELTS (and then their main applicant paid ~$4000 to be taught up to IELTS 4.5 overall). My wife, for example got IELTS overall 5.5 five years ago. Maybe she has a better level now, but, to be honest the exam itself is quite stressful, especially the writing part where you need to write an essay about some stupid topic which you simply have no idea of. +extra $300 fee. i don't get this.
  7. I sent an email to my MP Recently I was granted with Australian Citizenship, but because my wife and children moved to Australia later than me, they were not eligible by that time. At the present moment they are eligible and meet the 4 years residence requirements, however, my main concern is that DIBP stopped processing all citizenship applications that were submitted after the 20th of April, and, moreover they introduce new requirements like 'having competent English' which means for my wife sitting the IELTS test again and paying extra $300 for the test (additionally to $288 for the application cost). One interesting thing is that the current citizenship law states that applicants should have: ... possesses a basic knowledge of the English language; and ... But the DIBP internet site says: have a competent knowledge of English (applicants under 60 years of age) http://www.border.gov.au/Trav/Citi/pathways-processes/application-options/partner-spouse/eligibility So, they just go well ahead over the parliament and assume that the new law has been imposed before it happened. However, the most interesting thing is that DIBP is saying on their internet site that The changes will not apply to applications made before 20 April 2017. The current rules will apply to applications made before 20 April 2017. But the law itself has not been approved by the parliament so far, the amendments exist as a bill, you can look here: http://parlinfo.aph.gov.au/parlInfo/search/display/display.w3p;query=Id%3A%22legislation%2Fbills%2Fr5914_first-reps%2F0001%22;rec=0 so my another question is that is it a normal legal practice to make announcements before the law was approved and backdate the laws ? In my opinion all this looks like barely legal political games and I would like to ask you at least to raise the question before Parliament why applications submitted after the 20th of April are not being processed under the current legislation. This quite seriously affects my family because now I'm Australian, however, my wife and children are not, and it's not known when their status is going to change, however the application fee has already been paid. Thank you very much for your support.
  8. No one this affects can vote, so politicians are going to focus on the things that will earn them re-election from those who can vote them out. Where is their incentive to fight for people without a voice in parliament? If/when those affected finally make it through the process in the future, the chances they'll then bother campaigning still for those still stuck in the system are slim I'd imagine. As migrants, ,this is incredibly frustrating given the time, , investment and commitment given so far to Australia, , and the desire to give more and integrate further/completely. I assume it would be thrown out but who except migration agents who this must hit hard have the legal knowledge to take this on?
  9. An interesting view: http://insidestory.org.au/a-new-class-of-migrants-the-never-to-be-citizens
  10. Applied on behalf of my wife yesterday. We have 4years of PR in Australia so let's look how it's going.
  11. Congratulations!! When are you going to set off to Adelaide ? I heard there are problems with jobs in telecommunications area in particular, so I'm really afraid of being without work when I will have arrived.
  12. Well, I applied for the SA state sponsorship. When I've got it I'll lodge an application in DIAC. However, my spouse hasn't still sat IELTS exam to get Overall 4.5. So, the question is when I will have to provide DIAC with her IELTS or pay VAC2 ? Thanks in advance!

  14. There exist great changes! They remove IELTS requirements for 263111, so I've already lodged an application.
  15. Thanks, now I see I don't have partner skills, state nomination, and ielts8 which give 30 points. So, I'm struggling to pass ielts with 7777
  16. How did you count that? 90 points is pretty many, for example, I can't reach 65 with my ielts 6 and having more than 8 years overseas work experience. I'm 32 yo.
  17. I think you should forget of your overall IELTS test result. There are necessary to have an exact score in each band. Your current situation is quite similar to mine. I've passed IELTS on March, and, also, my ACS application is being processed, so I hope it will have finished by the beginning of July. And then we'll get a new pointstest. I hope that 263111 will be left in the SA SMP, but, also, there exists the requirement to have 6.5 in each band of IELTS, however, unfortunately, I have 6 only in Listening band, so, I'm going to re-take IELTS on July in order to obtain 6.5 in each band.
  18. When new points test will be introduced, there exists a possibility to get 5 points for designated language. I extremely need to get these 5 points! So, is anything known about a way how it will be performing, because in the new points test faq is written that it will be no longer supported by DIAC, but by NAATI. Though, NNATI Internet site contains only information that they have to make arrangements with DIAC and that's all. Maybe, does anybody know more ?

    Age limit increased

My problem is that I have 8 years experience, but I am already 32, and my 33th birthday will be on November. So I've already passed IELTS by now (results will be known the day after tomorrow), also I sent papers to the ACS 2 days ago. If I get 6.5 in each band, I'll submit an application for obtaining a SA Sponsorship. However, the problem is that I have to cope with all these things till my birthday date, but I'm really unsure that it is possibly and the only way then will be to learn english harder for 7 in each band. So, the main question for me is how fast SA considers requests for the sponsorship.
  20. Well, I've looked at the SMPs, and I've utterly upset for the simple reason that Telecomm Network Engineers have fewer possibilities to move to AU than tradespersons such as Telecomm Technicians. I'm the Telecommunications Network Engineer with more than 7yr experience, however I haven't been assessed yet and no IELTS as well, so I'm just trying to decide for myself, which kind of assessment I have to choose. Let's consider a Telecomm Egineer opportunity, who is represented in two positions in SOL3. These are: 263311 Telecommunications Engineer 263312 Telecommunications Network Engineer Now let's consider the SMPs: in WA SMP (IELTS 7777, 7 year exp) - but there is ONLY 263311 in SA (20k$ cash) - only 263312 I remember ACT SMP has 26331x position, but there are some insane cash requirements also. An engineer must be assessed with the IEA, have an IELTS 6666, and be ready to pay about AUD$500. As well the assessment will take about 5 months. After that the engineer will get just one ANZSCO code. It's very sad. Then let's consider to the opportunity 342414 TELECOMMUNICATIONS TECHNICIAN, who is just simple tradesperson. You can look at duties here: 1220.0 - ANZSCO - Australian and New Zealand Standard Classification of Occupations, First Edition, Revision 1 I suppose, any professional telecomm engineer knows how to work with cables and with telecomm equipment, so i presume that any one able to be assessed as a tradesperson. Furthermore, lets look at the telecomm technician possibilities and requirements: WA (IELTS 6666, 5 yr exp) VIC (5 yr exp) Telecomm technician has to be assessed in TRA, the assessment will cost about $300, and it will take 1 month. Feel the difference. Well, now is the question. I have a bachelor degree, and I was qualified as 'Physicist'. After qualification I've been working for different telecommunications companies, so my summary experience is more than 7 years as Telecommunications Network Engineer. However, i see that a technician has more possibilities to move out to AU than an engineer, therefore the question is how to be assessed in TRA ? Has anybody an experience with TRA assessment ? May be have you another thoughts? Don't hesitate, and just drop line here. p.s. All of this is relating to the new points test. I don't make delusions to my ability to pass an IELTS more than 6666 or somthing else
  21. I'm very upset. There aren't any telecomms occupation ((
  22. Don't you know many of us can't collect enough points for 175 visa obtain? In my case, I can collect 115 points from 120 only. However, if I got a SS, a passmark would be 100 points. In addition, if we look at new points test, the chances to get any (no matter 175 or 176) visa are falling down because, for example, I can't anymore get 5 points for designated language, so the right way in my case is to pass an IELTS on 7777 (plus one year delay for IELTS preparations) or obtain a SS.
  23. It doesn't help. Just imagine if you were an employer, would you to call outside to call another, non-english speaking country for speaking with a potential employee, which you didn't see ever ? You may go on this imaginations further. I think employer would call you, if it had any reference from currently employed workers or somewhere else.
  24. Agreed. It are really feeble reasons to break an obligation. I suppose you don't right. I've sent tons of CV to my potential employers from outside of AU, and I didn't receive any positive answer. Nothing ever.
  25. I don't know what a basement do they use, but I see the fact, if you are Telecom Engineer, you cannot get 176 Visa to VIC, because their SMP doesn't have Telecom Engineers. However, you can obtain, for example, SS from SA and get a problem to get any job as a Telecom Engineer in SA because there are just 85 vacancies, but in VIC more than 700 vacancies. Somebody here has written that I should make a research and here is the research results based on seek.com.au. You may obtain SS from SA and get really problems with a job in SA, or you may have unfair behaviour and get a job in VIC faster. But why they doesn't have a Telecom Engineer position in their VIC SMP - it is really conundrum for me.
