  1. ah cool you'll be sorted then if you have family there and job set up already! Spent a year in Sydney a few years ago and loved it so trying to get a visa to go back! Traveled a bit up the east coast too a few times as well but never been to Perth. You'll have a great time and so jealous the weather will be warming up nicely when you arrive! Enjoy Cara:wubclub:
  2. Hi dave, oh wow the 28th is very near! if you applied for your visa today then you should have it in time as the 28th is 3 weeks away! Where you heading to? You must be excited if planning to go so soon!
  3. I got my WHV approved in 2 days when I got it through Visa First which is a similar company to Australian Visa Bureau, I paid extra for it to be done in 48hours usually it tells you on the site. if you applied for the visa yourself through the australian immigration website it can take about 2 weeks. I got 13 month travel insurance with ACE http://www.aceinsure.ie/travel/ but there are loads of other compaines you can get it from, just google backpacker travel insurance and make sure you get it to cover anywhere else you may decide to stop off on along the way or on your way home! 4. Hi, Im kinda in a similar situation. I was doing an 4 years honours computer science degree and then after finding 2nd year though changed to a ordinary comp sci degree so i'm not too sure what points i get for my degree too! I got a positive skills assessment from ACS saying i'm in group A which is if you have a degree so i'm hoping that means i get the 15 points too, what group did they asses you against? I've repeated the IELTS to try get all 8s to get the extra points so it wouldnt matter what points i get for my degree. Maybe you could get extra points that way too? Cara
  5. Hi Linda, Yes you're right I was taking to you in another thread re the Ielts I think! I had looked at doing it in Belfast but then with the cost of getting a bus up and prob having to stay over night the night before as i wouldn't fancy the getting the bus in the wee hours of the morning to make it on time, it would work as just as dear as down here. Do you do the speaking part on the same day as the other parts? Here it can be hit and miss depending on if you apply early enough and request to do it on the same day but they cant guarantee it. the 1st time i had applied 2 months inadvance and was able to do all parts on the Saturday but last week even though I requested the same 6weeks in advance i didnt get it and had to do it on the Friday so had to take a half day from work which was pain as I dont have many annual leave days left to take! Cara
  6. Hi, You are being told ACS will help becuase you work in IT and if you want to apply for a permanent visa 176 or 175 from outside Oz you must have a positive skills assessment. And ACS is the assessing body for IT related skills. Have a look at the requirement to pass the skills assesment on their website http://www.acs.org.au/index.cfm?action=show&conID=skillassessment
  7. Hi, What test centre did you sit it in? I resat it in UCD last Saturday there was a few more Irish sitting it this time, was even talking to another Irish lady who was resitting it too so was glad I wasn't the only one! I'm not feeling hopefull for getting a better result this time so fear that was another €185 down the drain:sad: Cara
  8. yea i think it could be that too, i hate those questions when the answer is false or not given because sometimes its hard to know which one to use because they can give a contradicting statement! here's a link on how to do these questions the next phttp://www.ieltsonline.com.au/masterDemo/reading/Step_2/1400.asp though I was repeating to increase my listening score, wish they played the last section of the listening twice!!
  9. Fingers crossed for you its 3rd time lucky! I know how you feel. I resat my Ielts test there on Saturday as I need to get all 8's and had got 7.5 in the listening the 1st time. Dont think I have done any better this time round though as again i know i got at least 2 questions wrong because I just didnt hear the answers! Will be gutted if i have to do it a 3rd time! Just have to wait another 12 days to get the results.
  10. Hmm highly unlikely, they only need to see your passport page that has your name, dob and photo etc so they know who your are.
  11. Hi, I sent an original as I got more than one from my employer so if you only have the one signed reference from your employer then I would send a certified copy of it as you will need to keep your reference for future use. Cara

Oh i know, i wish it was an over all of 8 too. I got over all 8.5 made up from L7.5, R8.5, W8 and S9 so i really hope I can get the higher scores again and also go up to an 8 in the listening when i repeat in August. Have you gotten any of your previous tests remarked as I think the writing sometimes can go up where as the listening can't because you either get the answer right or wrong! Cara
  14. Hi, 1)Yes your 1st link is correct to start the application online. 2)Have never seen your 2nd link before so think you should just follow the instructions from the ACS website. Once you have filled out the form online you print it asks you to print it and sign it and post it to the address you have above which is from the ACS instructions on their website. 3)The documents you attach in the application can be the scans of the documents you got certified. 4) yes you must get you copies of documents certified/ signed by a solicitor/notary. 5) as per ACS's website 49. Where do I send my certified documents? It is advisable to send documents through registered mail to: P O Box Q534 Queen Victoria Building Sydney NSW 1230 Australia Or courier to: Level 11, 50 Carrington Street Sydney NSW 2000 Australia We advise registered post because this enables the applicant to confirm receipt. The ACS will not issue receipts or sign acknowledgements over the counter and applicants are advised we will not speak to applicants on-site. So how you send it is your choice! All the best with your application.
