  1. Thank you Verystormy. Is it a case of just filling in a form amd will we need to prove the reason why we didn't take up the visa (which was due to my Dad's illness)? Are the RRV's valid for 12 months?
  2. Hi. I was wondering if somebody could help us please. Our Skilled Independent Visa Subclass 175, expired in November 2015, before we made the move to Oz (due to family reasons). We have been advised that the only way we can still make the move is to apply for a Returning Residents Visa. To do this my husband will require a job offer. Apparently this needs to be a full time and permanent (to satisfy immigration), although he doesn't necessarily have to take up the position once he arrives! Can anybody help us please? We are a desperate 51 year old couple. My husband is a fully qualified plumbing and heating engineer in the UK. Many thanks.
  3. Hi. We were awarded a 175 visa in November 2010, but due to family illness we were unable to make the move to Oz. We now are in a position to go, but our visa has expired We have been advised that we could try and obtain a Returning Residents Visa, but my husband would need a job offer. He is a fully qualified Plumbing/Heating Engineer in the UK. Any help on trying to secure an Australian job offer, whilst still being the the UK, would be greatly appreciated. The Brisbane area is where we would ideally like to be. Many thanks.
  4. I know this is cheeky, but we want to go to Queensland too. How did you manage to get a job offer?
  5. We are in exactly the same boat - we have our PR visa, and my husbands skills as a plumber were assessed by TRA. We just thought that doing this course would save us having to wait to get on a course in Oz. Really not sure what to do for the best now. My husband is also a fully qualified gas engineer over here and wants to go into the mines in Oz. Can anybody help as really don't want to part with the £3k if it is not going to help us.
  6. Hi. Just wondering if you could tell me more about this course as my husband is thinking of doing it. Now you have completed it, have you been given any contacts for jobs etc?
  7. Hi We are flying on 8th April. Thanks for the advice and I hope you have a good trip. Bev
  8. Hi My husband is a plumber/gas engineer here in the UK. We have now got our 175 visa and we are hoping to move to the Brisbane area in the near future. It seems that whatever route he goes down he will have to get a licence and attend TAFE to be able to trade as one of the two - only problem is, he doesn't know which route to go? Can anybody please advise which one of these options would have the most job opportunities in the Brisbane area. Also, we are coming out for a visit in April (myself, hubby and 10 year old son) - if there are any plumbers or gas engineers that would like to meet up with us (in or around the Brisbane area), that would be fantastic. Many thanks Bev
  9. Hi We are travelling to Oz in April with Singapore air - myself, my hubby and our 10 year old son. This is a major trip for us as we are going to be validating our visas! Only problem is we are not frequent flyers so I am starting to panic a bit about such a long flight - any tips would be very welcome. Also, I am a larger lady (both in height and width!) - does anybody know what the leg room on Singapore air is like - not sure whether to try to upgrade? Many thanks Bev
