  2. hi all we are shipping out our stuff from ireland to melbourne and have to get a customs broker but all the ones i contacted wont handle personal items can anyone please help me as i am pulling my hair out  thanks noel and becky
  3. Anybody know of any half decent reasonably priced hotels or holiday apartments in Melbourne or surrounding areas for a family of 6 for a couple of nights in March. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Noel.
  4. Well folks flights are booked we arrive in Melbourne on the 1st of March. Melbourne here we come LOL:biggrin:
  5. Hi Raymond, we are going first week in March booking the flights next week can't wait. Noel:smile:
  6. Hi Paddy, we got a quote of around €3,000 for a 20ft container to Melbourne from IPS freight services in Airside business pk, Swords, Co. Dublin. also for shared freight they were quoting about €150 for a cubic metre in Ireland but the ozzies charge $250 handling charge, we were thinking about bringing the car but realised we don't own the car a year so it doesn't qualify as a personal import so guess we'll just have to sell it and buy a car over there. Hope this helps Noel
  7. Hi Raymond, just to let you know that you only have to get x-rays done for a 457 visa if your asked to do so just letting you know in case it saves you a few quid as we just got our 457 visa and didn't have to do any medicals whatsoever. Noel.
  8. We didn't have to organise health insurance Ireland has a reciprocal agreement with medicare all we have to do is produce our Irish passports and sign on with medicare when we get there.
  9. That's great news you'll be over there in no time our visa only took a month to come through and that was including christmas break so yours should be about the same.
  10. Got the news this morning 457 visa approved, Melbourne here we come.
  11. Hi Flakey, I am looking at buying two cars as well and have been looking online couple of web sites for you is www.carsguide.com.au and www.carpoint.com.au and www.ebay.com.au and also you can check out the car auctions at www.pickles.com.au they have a facility where you can watch the auction live online but be prepared cars are very expensive compared to the UK and Ireland. Hope this helps Noel.
  12. Our Employer is already state approved to sponsor as they recruit people every year from abroad, we got conformation on the 10th of Dec that our application was lodged on the 6th Dec just feels like an eternity waiting on the yea or nea:wacko:, i know what you mean about the flights there's 6 of us in total and it's going to cost about €3600 with etihad with 1 stop over in abu dhabi there is cheaper but with 4 kids i think it's worth the extra few euro to only stop once:smile:, worst part is the exchange rate at the mo hard to believe that your euro that was worth $2.00 in 2009 is now only worth $1.30 ish:err:, ah well just have to hope it improves before we go otherwise we'll just have to take it on the chin. When do you think you might have word or your application? Noel & Becky.
  13. We got our job offer in Oct our employer is already approved, we eventually got all our paperwork organised at end of November and the Migration agent lodged our application online on the 6th Dec, We were hoping to be in Melbourne at end of Jan so the kid's could start the new term in Feb but don't think that's going to happen now.
  14. Come on Ozzies grant our 457 visa so we get get the flock out of here before the **** (economy) really hits the fan.
