The greysonline site is fantastic (I hope) I've just bought a 7ft christmas tree for $9 - maybe it will feel more like christmas then!?!?!

So how do we do this? We will be arriving in Melbourne at the weekend and will need to get a taxi from the airport and we have a 2, 3 & 7 yr old - what do we do about car seats, do the taxi companies have them? How do we get in touch with them or are they very lax and don't care? Thanks Lindsey

Tee hee about the national anthem - will mention that one to Innes - fortunately it was written by a Scotsman so should be able to sway him with that (also he doesn't know the English one either!) Thank you both for your replies, have red books and reports ready! Did they have any knowledge of SATs levels do you know?

We are leaving in a week now, what do I need to bring with me from our old school (primary) And what did you look for when looking round schools (we will have some time before the new term starts in February!!!!!! Is there anything that I need to make doubly sure of when we go to visit? thanks lindsey

We have just been granted our 457 and actually forgot a couple of preivous visa's on our application!!!!! We too aren't married (but do have three children), and sent most things that we could get our hands on that had both our names on! Good luck!

Thanks Petals, we realise that we will need a car, I just don't really want to either need it on day 1, or need two, or need it to go everywhere! Just like to be 'able to' walk, especially to school (despite what funny looks I may get!) Thus box hill appeals as trains, schools, shopping, leisure centre and rugby club are all so close!!!!

Thank you for that - you've actually mentioned most of the suburbs that we have been looking at! Box Hill, Doncaster, Blackburn, Glen Waverley, and possible Balwyn? We had decided on Box Hill (for convenience and good schools), but have been warned off twice now? Any ideas why, other than it is very chinese? Thanks again Lindsey

So we got our visa's this morning and need to be in Melbourne ASAP! We have three small children (2, 3, 7) OH is working in Richmond and interstate. Can anyone help with suggestions of areas - our priorities are! Near (15/20 mins) walk to a train station that goes in to Richmond within 30 mins Near good primary schools (fairly academic as the 7 yr old sits near the top of his current class), not private Family friendly - I currently don't have to drive anywhere, have leisure centre, shops, schools, cafes/restaurants and activities all within walking distance (i realise something may have to give here, but would generally prefer not to need to use the car to go everywhere!) Any ideas? Thanks Lindsey

We had our visas granted this morning! We think it took about 8 working days in all! We have been spinning all day, especially as we are now leaving asap (10 days max) and we are nowhere near ready!!!!!! Hope everyone else gets lucky soon! Lindsey

Well im not quite sure what happened but some phone calls from our agent later part 1 of our 457, the company sponsorship is approved!

We've been told this morning that we have a 'junior case officer' allocated to the company sponsorship element of our 457 application and this could take three weeks!!!! Has anyone else ever heard of a junior case officer??? Thanks Lindsey

So do ALL children need medicals? We are also applying for 457, with three children (one school age, two in nursery) but neither my OH or I work in health or child care? (we were realty just trying to save a few more pennies by not front loading with medicals/police checks)?
