Hi all I have been living in Melbourne almost 4 years and have decided to try Sydney-waiting on a job hopefully be there by December. .. I always hear negatives about Sydney with not many positives.. to be honest my experience in Melbourne has not been that great.. I don't like the winters and find it abut closeted. If that's the word! i am single in 30s ( female) what i was wondering if anyone could give me any insights on good things about Sydney. Really want a thriving enviroment and to meet people.. i lived in london for 5 years previously so maybe thats it ot maybe its just me....

Hi Adi i sympathise completely. IELTS dorve me mad and to despair but the good new is you can get throught it it just takes lots of practice tests. Like yourself i always fell short on the reading and writing and your right its just the format of the test and getting used to the silly questions which some ar elike tricks questions so its a case of keeping on cos you will get there.. I used to get so nervous too especially listenng and reading. all ican reccomend is to do lots or practice tests which i did until my mind was so sussed on the ielts pattern that i was bound to pass it in the end- from getting 7.5 s i went up on my 4th attemot and lots of practice tests to 9s and 8s. i do sympathise as it makes you feel like rubbish when you dont get the 8s but remeber your going to pass it its only a test and i would say its a test of how good you are at tests rather than at english A

Hi Indi I have the same issue i have appplied and obtained sponsorship and all my ielts and police checks from 3 countries and now that i come to lodge my 176 i see that its says u need to apply with 2 year validity on your visa.. i am actually in australia on a 457 . What happened in your case was it still accepted? also did you do your medicals on the old paassort? shoudl i go ahead and lodge as i only have 8 monthe validiity on my passport? a

Hi, can someone offere me some advice as im really at the end of my tether with this.. im from the uk its re australian immimgration I have finally got everything together all ielts and police checks i need and have just obtained victoria state sponsorship.. BUT i have just realised there is a 2 year validity thing on passport and it is due to expire in 9 months.. !!!! all my documents were obtained using my current passprt and it seems i will need a new passprt to apply..? Doe sthat mean i have to do all these tests ect again in new passport > please can someone help me on this question.. I live in australia and am on a 457 visa and so i can apply for a passport to b renewed here but it will take like 6-7 weeks to sort out to get it and in the meanwhile i already have everythiung ielts, police checks from 3 countries and sponsorship fron vic goverbment which will expire in less than 4 months.. should i just apply in my old passprt and upload all documents and hope for the best.. Still i will need to apply for medicals and would they let me do thta in old passport which expires in 9 months. can anyone please offer any insight as im freaked out now also its sunday and i cant call anyone A

Hi all Im currently living in Melbourne on a 457 visa as a nurse and am going to apply for 176. I need 8s from IELTS which i am due to sit in october and am really scared about it as the points i need for this require all 8s. Also if i am just about to lodge the skills assessment and will apply for state sponsorship then. My question is - is it do-able to get all 8s on a general ielts? Also to anyone who has experience, is it acceptable to apply for state sponsorship independantly and then do 176 through agent? does its make it tricky if you do SS yourself then do 176 through an agent? Also do docs for state sponsorship need certifying ? and do you attach them electonically or do you send them by post. I have to have worked 12 months in my current job-- 4 more months to go! before i can lodge 176 as to satisfy the 12 monthe out of 24 months job expereince aspect, but trying to get thing ready now. :wub: Also on a diffenet subject.. if yyou have state sponsorship ( and i need it due to points) then what is the longest anount of time you are allowed to spend out of the state travelling or whatever before you break the rules within the 2 year condition as im abit nomadic and inclined to roam :wubclub:- even tho i will be officially in vic and working there if anyone can offer any light on these subjests would be great thanks A WOULD BE GREAT TO HAVE RESIDENCY AS I FEEL LIKE IM PENDING IN ALL RESPECTS. i KNOW THAT IF I LOSE THIS JOB OR GET SICK OR ANYTHING IVE LOST THE 457 IM ON AND IF I HAVE TO GO BACK TO UK I DOUBT IL EVER GET OUT AGAIN :wideeyed: pLEASE BEAR THIS IN MINBD PPL WHO ARE THINKING OF APPLYING FOR 457- WITH HINDSIGHT I THINK ID HAVE GONE STRAIGHT FOR RESIDENCY
