  1. Finally, Invite received today - absolutely trilled! :jiggy::jiggy: Let the application games begin... Eily
  2. Hi all, I got my invite too today! Very exciting Eilis
  3. Hi Tai, Welcome to the waiting game! I am still waiting, I applied on the 14th October on 60 points, so will be waiting 8 weeks tomorrow. I am hopeful for the next round on the 18th though trying not to think about it too much - it will happen when it happens! I will update my thread here once I get invited. Best of luck with your PR journey! Eilis
  4. Thank you both for your reply - I think I will wait as a few more weeks to wait is ok. Thanks again, Eilis
  5. Hi all, I have been a lurker for a few years now - I have been very impressed by the level of knowledge and support on this forum and am finally in a position where I have some questions to ask. I have been reading through the threads to see if I can find an answer to my question but I haven't found it / don't fully understand how it works - apologies if I have missed this information somewhere! I am a Physiotherapist from Ireland, living in Australia, who is ready to submit an EOI for the 189 visa. My skills have been assessed and I currently have 60 points (without the English exam points). I am deliberating as to whether or not I should do an English test to gain extra points and thus hopefully speed up the process. To be honest I am not in any major rush to get my residency (still have several years left on my current 457 visa) but having my residency will be a wonderful things for many, many reasons, including opening up employment opportunities which would be particularly be great from a financial perspective. So my question is - is it worth doing the English exam, to perhaps gain 5-10 points? Does having 65 or 70 points significantly speed up the invite to submit an application? I am happy to wait an extra 6 weeks or so for an invite if it means avoiding the stress and cost of an exam, but if it might mean waiting for 3-4 months then I would prefer to sit the exam and potentially get an invite sooner, with increased points - if I can pass the exam! Basically finances are tight at present so I need to avoid spending my hard earned pennies where possible! I also realize that I can submit my EOI and do the English exam at a later date if nothing happens after a few weeks. How much does occupation affect the EOI and invite process? Does the department process all 70 points, then 65 and then 60 regardless of occupation? Or does occupation have a bigger role to play? Thank you kindly for any clarification or knowledge you can share - this visa business is quite confusing at times! Kind regards, Eily
