  1. Ah that's definitely a test doing that to you!!! Men & their sport eh We are going to Sydney the Saturday before to see Man Utd & then the Liverpool match in the week!!
  2. not overly familar with siberia but i guess so!
  3. Welcome Hope you are enjoying. I've been here nearly 3 years & living in Drysdale. I'm married & 28 years old.
  4. I've met a few & most people, once they hear my accent, tell me about family ties they have in UK so it all comes out then!
  5. i moved to geelong with my now-husband as he is from here originally. have to say that it's taken me a while (been here almost 3 years) to settle & to be honest, it's still not my favourite place. i think that is mainly due to the fact that i'd lived in perth previously so that was my idea of australia & geelong is obviously completely different - & much colder! it depends what your expectations are but overall, it is a nice place
  6. Don't rate the public transport here at all, and I don't drive myself. I am lucky that I have worked it out with friends/partner's family with lifts to work & with my partner being a driver too. Buses in Geelong are like 1 an hour, but they basically turn up whenever they want & depending on what area you live in, can take 2 buses & over an hour to get to Geelong CBD (when it's about a 10 min drive by car!) If she'll be working in the hospital & possibly shifts/night shifts - I'd say live as close to the CBD, if not in it, as you can for that reason I work within the property sector too so if you need any further advice/info regarding suburbs/real estate agents, just yell Sorry for the delayed reply too!
  7. Sorry got the late reply guys! But great to get replies It seems that everyone is about 10 years older than me who's emigrated here so I'm used to that! Geelong... it's taken me a while to get used to if I'm honest but when I think about it, I shouldn't really complain - shops, good job, stability, beach close, city close, sunshine (when it wants to!) but yeah, miss my friends & family heaps so that gets to me now & again. Would love to have a Brit get-together though! I'm open to suggestions When are you heading out then waiting game? Hopefully you aren't waiting too long! What are you waiting on?!?! x
  8. Hey guys. I'm not really an expert on things like this but thought I would give it a go! I'm a 27 year old female in the Geelong area with my Aussie fiancee (he's originally from Geelong). I moved over here with him almost 2 years ago & I'm originally from Wales, UK. I travelled Oz before I emigrated here & met new people every day & made friends easily. I seem to have lost a lot of confidence since moving here, not sure why but yeah! We currently live in Herne Hill with our dog (no kids yet!) & are planning to get married early 2013. I work in a small company so not much chance for meeting people through that & whilst we have my partner's friends group, I would like my own! I come from a big family & close friendships back home so am missing that. (Hoping I am not sounding too strange & desperate on this!! Ha ha). Anyway, would be great if there is anyone in the same area around the same age wanting to meet up!
  9. Hi. I have moved from UK with my Aussie fiance. It's harder than I thought to make friends & settle down - world really is a big place!! Thank goodness for emails/cheap phone calls to UK/Skype! I don't think I could live in the UK again though, but I really miss the people back home (not the place!) I am going back to visit in a few months, so hoping that I can settle down a bit more after that & realise what I have here...
  10. That's interesting as I'm in Melbourne & thinking to move to Perth!! Guess we're all different eh
  11. Allamand estate past geelong?! Not sure what that is!?

My name is Symon im 26 from Newcastle-upon-tyne I moved over to Geelong 3 months ago to be with my aussie girlfriend! having a real difficult time finding work here at the moment. I posted a thread on here the other day hoping to get a few brits together for a meet up in Geelong soon which would be nice as I haven't met many people from home so far! <img src="<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/smile.png" alt=":)" srcset="<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/smile@2x.png 2x" width="20" height="20" /></p>
