  1. Thank All - Happy with that as we are not going anywhere !
  2. Hi All - Just wondered if anyone can help. We arrived in Australia from the UK in Feb 2011 on a 457 and were lucky enough to get PR granted in July 2011. WOOOHOOOO ! We had a baby here last year who is an Australian Citizen by birth and has an Australian Passport and I wonder if this somehow enables us to apply for Citizenship as parents ? If not how long do you have to wait before we can apply. Citizenship website is not clear. Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi - great news and refreshing to hear the 457 process went so smooth as I applied form mine last night and hope to book medicals next week. One question - Who did you use for your Private Medical Insurance and do you have to have the policy in place straight away ? regards Paul
  4. Hi - Can anyone recommend a company for Private Medical Insurance ?
  5. This is funny - as a mortgage broker here in the UK it makes me laugh that a lender can imply that that they will not give consent to let if you move to Australia...that a new one on me. Its a cheap trick to get you to switch to a more expensive BTL mortgage.....consent to let is just that and where you choose to live is not their concern nor relevant. The only thing to watch is how long they will consent for as most restrict this to 6-12 months as they dont want you paying a residential rate on what has turned into an investment mortgage for too long!
  6. Hi - we are moving to Perth in Jan 2011 and my wife has a sponsored 457 application in progress as she has secured work. I am a mortgage broker here in the UK and would like to stay in the industry in Aus but find it frustrating employers will not talk to me until either i am in Australia or much closer to our arrival date. I am keen to feel out the market and employment prospects before I sell my house and jump on a plane. Has anyone else found this and can anyone provide provide any advice ?
