ha ha ...... reading over this tonight and funny how things were at the beginning when we first met to where all our journeys have taken us... funny reading over old conversations.

Cant really comment on glenwood as i dont know to much about it but is fairly close to where i am.... 1. The public schools here work on catchment areas. My 8 year old son goes to Barnier Public School and it is fantastic... It is in Quakers Hill although i am in the ponds area (just the way the catchment area is)... The other public i know is good is Rouse Hill... 2. Not sure about travel to sydney but there are Tways and train station fairly close to the areas your looking and i know there is a bus service about every ten mins to the city... Driving i have no clue... 3. If your looking for shopping centres most are accessable by car and they tend to be in main suberbs... There are many cycle paths around the best ones seem to be in the newer areas, although the newer areas dont tend to have the major shopping centres, just a few shops... There are parks everywhere... Stanhope gardens is lovely, also the ponds, kellyville ridge, kellyville, rouse hill.... Cant really go wrong with any of them... In terms of travel... Train goes from quakers hill (not as bad as everyone says) and there is a TWay bus service close by to all these places. Most people drive to the bus or train station and leave cars there.... Hope this helps some...

Argh what a lovely thing to say... I too am so grateful for the wonderful bunch of friends i have made... You have all made our australian journey so much easier.... you all know who you are...... Now less of the soft stuff whens the next piss up.....???

Hi chick, Lesley You organising a get together (i'm up for that)..... I am living in the hills been here nearly 6 months although i feel i have lived here all our lives.... We love it... we have 2 kids 8 and 4.... we have made some amazing friends, son loves school and all the extra activities.... There is so much to do here. If anyone fancies meeting for coffee or advice i am up for that....

Theres loadsa ex pats living in rouse hill you will be fine, I have met a nice family there and the school is excellent..... Lovely place wish I was living there, I am 5 mins away if you fancy a meet up....

thanks for this i found it very helpful.... I think if argos open up over here they would make a killing.... White goods are rediculously price even in the cheaper shops.... I also heard that next deliver over here but when i went online they do not offer the full catalogue. I agree that target and kmart are great... they also have best for less for clothes but today i bought x2 shorts x3 t-shirts (basics for school) and it came to $60 = £40 (nearly)... Think primark (would cost approx £15) they would make a killing to. I know that you shouldn't compare as we get paid in $ but i think that things are more expensive over here but agree that not x4 times the price that some people would like to tell you... it is hard not to compare as at the moment we are living on our savings as hubby has not had first monthly pay yet..... We went to the mean fidler (rouse hill) for sunday lunch and what a bargin $34 for four of us... They have loadsa adult and kids entertainment.... Excellent value for money and a great day out.

there is loads to do in rouse hill you will be fine, looks lovely area we were looking for a house there but couldnt get one so we decided on the ponds. Good luck

hi we also are in parramatta (company putting us up), we have been looking at house around the hilld area and today had an application accepted. Heard loadsa horror stories but to be honest i came prepared and our first application was accepted. I have not been to winston hills but my hubby went there and said its nice. We too are on a 457. Were are from N. Ireland but I am from Bolton (nr Manchester). Good luck with everything, we have been here a week today and loving it so far

Hi McCauleys, We are from ireland and are currently living in parramatta in serviced apts too..... We also have been househunting....OMG what a nightmare, put an application in on one in the ponds yesterday so not a million miles from you guys... We were looking in rouse hill to but there was no houses availble... I know someone living there and she loves it, app the school is really good. Send me a PM or keep in touch maybe we will meet up soon.

Well our container left yesterday and we are saying our final goodbyes.... Very sad. We leave tomorrow for a few days in england and then for sydney on Sunday.... Its all starting to become real now.:cry: Just wanted to say thanks to everyone for your help and advice over the past year and i wish you all well in your journeys....:notworthy: Will give you guys an update and hopefully some useful information soon.
