Hi, just replying to you question of the 457 visa process. I am a midwife, yes the AHPRA process is very long. My 457 visa took about 6 weeks from employer lodging the application, then two days later I lodged my application and got all relevant bits together eg: medicals,health insurance, birth certs and the like. I was the only one needing the medical, husband and 3 children exempt. Medical cost £310 with x-ray. Hope this helps, pm me if I can help you further.

Hello Everyone, I posted on here previously but plans were a bit uncertain at the time. Now we have a bit more to get on with. Mrs PR has a midwifery job in Epping starting early February, visas have all been put in motion this week and our house goes on the market this month. Plans are now for our family of five to leave the UK very soon after Christmas and try to get a bit settled before February. We'll be looking to rent in the Epping area and need to sort that out soon plus schools & a job for me. Suddenly it feels like there's a stack of things to sort out and very little time left....I think we'll have a few questions to scatter around the forums over the next couple of months.

Thanks, Mrs PR is a midwife and I'm a florist....Hospital Job is in Epping itself and I've read that there's a new Fruit, Veg, Flower market moving there as well. It's true that we'd prefer to be nearer the sea but suppose an hour away isn't too bad. With three kids it might be best for us to have home, work & school in the same area. It seems that we'll end up there initially so looking for some info on the good & bad.

Mrs PR is back from a visit over to Melbourne to check out work and all things are pointing to Epping...Apparantly it seemed alright around there although it wasn't top of our list (just hadn't come up) & I've read a few good and bad things about different parts. Question is....Is anyone living there, what's it like ?

We're at the point where we need to do a quick visit to check a few things out before we make the move.....Does anyone have any travel tips for flights from London to Melbourne towards the end of the month. All the online deals are frustrating as when you call them the seats have all sold but they miraculously have some left at a few hundred quid extra! Any first hand recommendations to keep a week away below lottery win prices ?
