  1. hi guys Briggs and stratton are an international brand of workhorse motors and one of the best so..... should not give much trouble 1, put new fuel in 2 ,use the old plug lay it with the threads touching the metal engine connect the plug lead to old plug try to start you should see a fat healthy spark (if not suspect the lead or the kill switch) 3, prime the carb tap it a few times try to start with the plug lead lead still off take out the spark plug if it is wet and smells of fuel all is good clean it and refit the plug it should have a gap of about 1 mm 4, take the air filter off (normally two long Bolts) again try to start that is about all you can do as a hobbyist with little knowledge Sorry if that does not work it will have to be the local small machine garage cheers good luck could always buy a goat LOL
  2. Hi I have the same and just passed the medical For NZ Very similar medical done by the same paneldoctors One of the questions I was asked was " Was I a twin" and the answer is Yes I am a twin apparently its quite common in twins so they disregard it But just incase I had the letter from my local Hospital where I had been 7 yeard earlier to have it investigated So if it had been a problem would have just shown letter that said it had been looked at and nothing Horrible found Hope this helps
  3. hi Gareth I was living in Melbourne and tried for 7 months to find work, my situation was slightly different than yours because of my age I needed employer sponsorship; I answered ad's on places like seek. I foot canvased and I knocked on peoples doors, I even enrolled and gained heavy and light vehicle Australian qualifications to compliment the City & Guilds I already held, in the end I was beaten and forced to return to Uk to try and work and build up my capital to enable me to return and try again so i wish you luck but believe me it will be a struggle
  4. Hi Guys I got done on a toll road in 2010 the camera is on a large overhead gantry not like Uk no warning signs just a letter in the post I sent a copy of my UK licence and paid the fine i was told the Demerit points are added to my driving record that was it no real drama just a pain
  5. Hi Guys, I am a qualified Diesel mechanic with experience on all types of vehicle from small car to heavy mining and contractors Plant I have lived in Melbourne, whilst there I trained and updated my qualifications for Australian ones: because of my age I need a 457 to work, I applied for hundreds of jobs, met 20 + employers face to face, still nothing, but all the time just living (Food rent Etc) running at a loss living off savings, It became so bad, I have returned to UK to work and build up capital to enable me to return and try again: I do agree with Fryertuck, most would be unwise to come to Oz without a firm job offer I KNOW Been There Done that too my cost
  6. I have just sent £ 100 via bank transfer (Friday 1st Feb) to my friends in OZ to buy a pressie for a birthday and they told me their bank has credited 150 Aud into the account I understand what you are saying, actual value is as shown but spending power may be a lot less in OZ
  7. Hi I am a qualified Diesel Mechanic and teacher and was living in Melbourne, but needed a sponsor because I am 55 so am on the scrap heap, I applied for hundreds of jobs, registered my CV with all of the agencies that post on here and most (not all) but most can not even bother to acknowledge you exist: I keep returning to UK, work for a few months build up capital and return again, I even studied and passed Australian qualifications to back up my UK full apprenticeship and City and Guilds: I have all the experience for the trades that are desperate to find qualified workers: still nothing!! I have been back and forward nine times todate, still want to work and live in OZ (have friends and somewhere to live just outside of Melbourne) But each time its getting harder, I have spent most of my savings and now must rely on the money I earn each time I am back in UK but when living in OZ and not working the money gets swallowed very quickly
  8. Hi JTC at the moment its roughly 1 1/2 times so £100 is 150 AUD your example of £30,000 would be approx 45,000 Aud hope this helps Cheers tony
  9. Hi Guys, I have tried most of the companies that post on here, I am a qualified Heavy and light vehicle mechanic with UK and Australian qualifications and 25 years experience on most makes and type of vehicle from small european car up to big earthmovers and dozers, i am presently teaching Vehicle repair in the UK, my problem is I am 55 so nobody wants me, they all know the only option is 457 but that I would only be allowed to stay 4 years: so its just too late for me OZ is a no go, only option is for NZ but the pay scales are less than UK for the same job role:
  10. Hi I have flown between UK and OZ with Emirates 8 times and each time the service has been fantastic, I have also been on quantas and singapore airlines, but still feel Emirates was the best, the staff could not do enough for you
  11. Hi I have lived in Berwick, Langwarrin, and Frankston South and have liked different aspects of all those places, Berwick has good restaurants, Bistros and Cafe, even night clubs, But not a good shopping Centre, unless you travel to Fountain Gate, Frankston South is nice again with the added bonus of being near the beach and nature reserves with good transport links (the Nepean highway) Train and shopping Centre at Frankston and Prices for houses are fair, Langwarrin is a bit different it straddles main roads and intersections, but still remains a backwater, yes it has pubs, restaurants, shopping Centres, all quite small and fragmented, but it does have good schools My area list would be Mt Eliza nice but Pricey Berwick Frankston South Langwarrin Baxter Ringwood
  12. ok just a slow drive along the esplanade
  13. You need to take an hrs drive down the esplanade towards Mornington get to the Royal hotel its a really nice old victorian style hotel good well priced food, live bands on sundays overlooking the bay Smashing almost like being back in Torquay (without the cold and rain) Lol
  14. Hi Kate thanks for the post, I am a qualified diesel mechanic with both electrical and hydraulic experience and have UK City & Guilds and Australian Qualifications, not sure but don't think I need TRA because I have recent (last two years) Australian vehicle repair qualifications Cheers Tony I have sent you a PM
