    I’m looking to do a long term trip around the coast of Australia. Can anyone recommend any garages (or ones I should avoid) in the Sydney area that sell second hand camper vans or motor homes (not old bangers)? Thanks.

    Can anyone recommend any recruitment agencies in Australia that deal with work in the water industry (e.g. those that deal with Melbourne Water, Yarra Valley Water, Gippsland Water, South East Water, City West Water etc etc). My OH is in Melbourne, with a visa and is currently looking for work. It would be very helpful to know which agencies deal specifically with water recruitment. My OH was a Water Treatment Technician for Thames Water in the UK and is looking for something similar in Oz. Many thanks.

    Hi, My OH and I emigrated to Melbourne 6 months ago on a 175 visa (basically it means we can work for anyone, anywhere, doing anything). In the UK he was a Water Treatment Technician (involving working on reservoirs, fixing leaks, manual handling and adding chemicals to the water etc) adding chefor Thames Water and is looking for similar work here for a company like Melbourne Water, South East Water, Yarra Valley Water, East Gippsland Water, Goulburn Valley Water etc. However, he is really struggling to find work and has applied for over 60 jobs without success. We have rung for feedback from the employers which has been helpful but despite making any changes they suggest to his CV it still hasn't helped him get a job. I was hoping someone may be able to give us some tips on what we could do to improve his job prospects or other companies he could work for. Thanks.

    I was just wondering would you recommend getting a bank credit reference or a statement signed by the bank manager to confirm what funds wehave to take with us to Oz? Do we have to show anything at immigration at the airport to prove what funds we have (we are flying on a one way ticket). We leave at the end of November for Brisbane so I'm just trying to tie up any loose ends. Thanks.

    Hi everyone, My boyfriend and I (both in our early 30's) will be arriving in Brisbane from the UK in a couple of weeks, so I'm starting to get excited, worried, scared etc etc! I just wondered if there are there any specific groups/webpages that deal with meeting up / making new friends. Thanks

    That's great, thanks. We are flying into Brisbane and plan to settle there. However we are keeping our options open and might go to Sydney if we don't fancy Brisbane anymore. It really depends on rental costs.

    Hi, I'm hoping someone may be able to help us. We have a visa for Oz and leave at the end of November. What I am struggling with is what we have to do between now and when we arrive in Oz. I have brought a couple of books about emigration and all that entails but all they seem to tell me is either how to get a visa or what to do once we have arrived in Oz. Does anyone know of any books that would explain what we have to do whilst still in the UK? Or have any helpful tips? So far my list includes flights (booked), set up Oz bank accounts (done), get records from Dr and dentist, get credit checks / references from our UK banks but what else......I have awful visions of us turning up at border control and them sticking us straight back on the plane cos we don't have the right documents. Help please!

    Brill :-) thanks guys. The thing is we haven't actually paid for the visa yet so I don't have a transaction reference number so I can't access those links. When I do pay for the visa will I have to submit the documents immediatley i.e. before July 1st when the visa rules change or will I have time to sort it out after July 1st? I ask as after July 1st we won't get enough points for the new visa system.

    That info is a great help gemstone, thanks. So if they are colour scans they don't have to be certified, is that correct? I have searched on the immi website but I can't find a list of what I have to attach. Do you have the checklist or know the website address?

    My boyfriend and I are applying for the Skilled - Independent (Migrant) Visa (Subclass 175) and want to know how we attach documents to an electronic visa application. We have started to fill in the form but it doesn't say anywhere how we attach the documents. We have to get ort application in by June 30th so all advice gratefully received asap! Thanks.

    Hi everyone, I have exactly the same problem.....where/what exactly is the visa number? I currently have been granted my second working holiday visa which I haven't used, I just have an email to say that it has been granted. My boyfriend is applying for a 175 skilled independent visa and I will go on this as his partner. I need to put my visa number on the page 'details of current or previous visa'. Does anyone know where I can find the visa number? And do I put the visa number for the second working holiday visa as that is what I would consider to be my current visa (although I haven't used it yet). For those that have left it blank, what has happened to the visa application? Has it been queried? I have emailed the immigartion department but all they do is send me links to webpages which are about as much use as a chocolate teapot :-(
