Hi Natalie Your situation is similar to ours. My husband has an Australian Passport and so I have been granted a permanent partner visa. Last week we booked our flights thinking that this would forge our decision, but the panic mode has increased!! My husband has elderly parents in the UK and would be leaving them without any immediate family, so he is feeling very guilty to say the least! His parents say they are not willing to travel to Australia either which makes matters worse. We have 2 children aged 6 and 9 and again they are settled in school etc. In the light of day I am positive about the move and then wake up at 5am in a cold sweat!! Again there is no right answer, so I do feel for you! Liane

Good luck with the move, we are feeling the same way, waves of positives and then negatives (leaving friends,family, jobs), we are aiming to be in Brisbane by mid Aug, and so much to sort out !!

Hi I am looking to emigrate from the UK. I have just received some information from a shipping company and it states that they require an Australian address. On our immediate arrival in Australia we will be renting a furnished holiday/short term let, so wont have an address in advance and intend to initially do a 'reccie' of suburbs before we decide on a rented property, so does anyone have any advice on this? Many thanks for your very detailed thread, I do feel for you, because both myself, wife and two boys are now in that very same position of moving. We have the green light and are looking at shipping costs etc, but as we get closer looking to go in August 2011, I do feel as though I am wavering, due to a variety of things - Eldest (boy) 8 years doesn't really want to go and leaving parents behind, along with the prospect of finding jobs etc. Can I ask what made you give it that final push and one final thing we are still undecided between Brisbane and Melbourne, why did you choose Brisbane.
