Does anyone know if either parent were able to get a 457 could they come here for 18 months and still qualify for their NZ citizenship? (and therefore entry to Aus). I made the transition from NZ to Australia a number of years ago. I'm almost certain they will not qualify for NZ Citizenship unless they demonstrate an intent to reside in NZ long term. I recall my interview with the NZ Citizenship officer a number of years ago, where I simply mentioned that I planned to go overseas and stay there for a few months, which had the effect of holding up my application for citizenship! That was until I declared at a later stage that I had cancelled plans to go overseas.
