  1. Hey guys, Do you both know that you can hand in a new (re-)assessment being a 2231-79 (nec) holder? http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/general-skilled-migration/pdf/acs-skills-assessment-review.pdf Cheers Uli

new VIC SMP - where are you now

Hey ac, that's the easiest part. Actually my situation was pretty much the same. Applied for a 175 as a 2231-79 (nec) and was accepted by VIC as Software-Tester. OK, to confirm you simply reply to VIC's eMail saying that you accept the sponsorship-offer. Ask them for a confirmation. They'll then forward form 1100 to the DIAC notifying them about the new sponsorship. There's nothing you have to do directly with the DIAC. It's handled between VIC and DIAC. Be prepared that the DIAC will contact you within 2 weeks asking you to provide all missing docs (meds, PCC ....). In our case it took 6 weeks from getting the VIC-grant till getting the visa. And we had to wait 3 weeks for madams IELTS-result You're almost there mate ! Uli

Hey AC, what occupation did you use for your 2009 application? 2231-79 (nec)? If so, then there is no need for a new assessment since 2231-79 maps into Software-Tester according to the official mapping-scheme (don't have the link on hand at the moment but I know it 100% ). Cheers Uli

    Importing an offroad-bike / AQIS

I'm still trying to convince her of what is good for her but she's the type of girl who is rather wheeling a bicycle up or down a hill if it's "too" steep. I'm afraid I'll never see her jumping over a 20m table-jump Thanks for your valuable comments. Very much appreciated mate !

    Importing an offroad-bike / AQIS

The point is the WAF - the wife-acceptance-factor. If I sell the bike over here missus will never understand why one of the first acquirements in OZ should be an offroad-bike. Therefore the financial committee will block this investment until further notice. The old bike still runs under "conservation of the status quo" and is therefore untouchable

    Importing an offroad-bike / AQIS

Thanks to all for your comments. @furkew - hehe, I've worked for Jeyes Germany for one week back in 2007. Horrible company - but if they bring me through the AQIS inspection I'll start loving them again . If AQIS sends the bike away for cleaning I guess it will be quite a bit of money I loose. I think I read somewhere that someone has had his bicycle and a pair of shoes cleaned after AQIS rejected both and it cost them 900 bucks. Can you confirm that the prices are that unreasonable high? Cheers Uli
  7. Hey there, I've received the import approval for my offroad bike just today (took only 14 days) but I'm still unsure whether to take it with me or to sell it over here. I'd love to bring it over but I am very worried about the quarantine inspection. I've been doing quite a lot of dirty things  with "her" and even if I'll give my best it will never be spotless. I've started dismounting all the plastic stuff to clean her as good as possible but there's bits of dirt and dust in every corner. Some spots are not even reachable with a toothbrush. Did anyone over here already import an offroad-vehicle? How strict are they when it comes to cleanliness? I'm doing my best to clean her but if the quarantine-inspector is willing to find dirt, he/she/it will find it somewhere. Here are some pics just to show what we're talking about. Of course it's a lot cleaner now. CheersUli

new VIC SMP - where are you now

Hey all, Please note that the VIC-2010/2011 club is not accepting any new members Honestly, I don't find the time to manage the thread any longer so you might want to open a new one. This one is pretty outdated. Cheers Uli

Hey as, Armandra is in MEL for quite a while already. We're in contact via FB and it seems he likes MEL a lot. Mister Bigbob has been granted a sponsorship from the ACT but I don't know if has already made the move. He might still be around here since it's not that long ago when he received the "silver" ticket  Cheerio Uli

Our plane leaves on April 9th. We'll stay in Singapore for a few days before finally heading for Oztralia. We have to activate the visa until 20th of April so we hope everything works out - no vulcanic eruption, no airline strikes, no apocalypse . Wish us luck and of course the same to all of you !
  11. Hey OZ, I don't know anything about the exact paperwork but I know that you cannot clear the customs and AQIS on you own. Only certified companies are allowed to enter the port-area and do the customs-stuff. They will transport your container to their own warehouse where it will be opened in the presence of an AQIS (quarantine) inspector. The container will then be unloaded, the AQIS-guy (or lady ) checks the things he/she deems suspicious and then all your stuff will be either be reloaded into a truck for delivery or put into storage. So you definitely need a company to clear customs and get the container out of the port into a private warehouse. Once the stuff is in the warehouse it is up to you what to do with it (bring it to your home on your own or entrust a company to do that). Cheerio Uli

new VIC SMP - where are you now

Hi p12, Back in Nov 2010 when they first opened the SMP gates the average processing time for ICT professionals was 6 months. Please check http://www.liveinvictoria.vic.gov.au/ for the current processing-times and if your friend's application is overdue you might want to contact them via smp.applications@liveinvictoria.vic.gov.au . Don't forget to state the case-number in the subject. Cheers Uli

We've had both, people that were granted a sponsorship after asking for a statement and others that were denied although they were asked for a statement. I think they will decide not just on that factor but after summing up all pros and cons. However, you should definitely get in touch with someone who has already created one of those statements. Check the first page of this thread and search for "Statement". You should find some hits. Fingers crossed !

Hey az, sorry for the late reply. In the past (before July 2010) all VIC-applicants had to write this letter but unfortunately I don't have a single one on hand. You might want to get in touch with VickyMel (not sure if she's still around) since she used to manage the old "VIC - where are you now" thread before I opened this one for the SMP. Fingers crossed !
