The immigration website says: You will not automatically receive the age pension or social security payments in Australia. You will have to wait: 1. Two years for most social security payments 2. Ten years for age and disability pension payments. So what is covered under "social security payments" and under age and "disability pension payments"

Great, Thanks for your inputs ajs604. I also felt it should be a federal police check all over Aus. Do you know how much time it takes for that to happen and when might i hear from my employer?

I obviously have Police clearance before leaving my home country so it makes less sense to go back to them for checks. Here in OZ It will be a 3 working day affair which again will be cleared by local police. Its been 5 working days and I haven't heard from my employer. Wondering if I should call them or just wait !

Bumping this. Anyone?

Hi, I might be getting a job soon but have been told that the employer will conduct a police check. I am a recent PR holder. My question is:- 1. Is the police check going to be done for Australia or my home country OR 2. Both Thanks for your inputs
