  1. Hey - I'm Secondary Science (chemistry specifically), I was very surprised to get an interview before I moved out - it was over the phone, so quite tricky! Thanks to all for your replies, I have been offered both jobs, I'm now just in a dilemma about which one I should go with! :-/
  2. Hi - pretty much as the title asks? I've had 2 interviews now and both have asked my head teacher and head of department for references (I am a teacher) - my question is, is this just standard practice or is this a good sign? Thanks if you can shed any light on this! :-)
  3. Thanks practicenurse - I might look into it - I'm just a whimp though, and after 3 years I'd probably completely forget when it would need to be changed! Those people in Oz on the injection - I've heard it costs about $16 for the prescription and $40 for the doctors appointment, I saw someone say the medicare refunds some of this - how long does it take to get some of that money back? Thanks again people! :-)
  4. Has anyone changed from the injection to the implant? Are the side-effects the same? for example I get a very good convienient side effect each month from the injection and don't want to lose it - so would the implant be the same?
  5. Thanks for your reply - I noticed after posting this that pet air Scotland is basically pet air UK - but still good to get some feedback on how good they are - so thank you for your reply! Being run by vets would definitely be a positive for us too - I'm a bit anxious about our cat making the journey, but I'm sure it'll be worth it - he'll love sunbathing when he joins us! :-)
  6. Basically what it says in the title - I have inks for tattooing and sealed needles for tattooing - will I be able to send them? We're using Seven Seas Shipping company, so I might message them too - but thought I'd ask here first in case anyone had experience of doing this before?
  7. Hey - has anyone used Pet Air SCOTLAND? I'm in the process of looking into quotes for my cat and wanted to hear any reviews on how good/bad, etc their service is? Thanks :-)
  8. Thanks ladies! I can't seem to find any other threads when searching - but will try to contact the centre in Northbridge and see what they say! I'm a bit of a woos when it comes to the implant - just can't bring myself to do that - also the benefits for me being on the injection - don't want to lose them if I don't have to! :-)
  9. Hey - do any women know if you can get the equivalent to the UK Depo contraceptive injection in Perth? I don't really want to change what I'm on just now, and might be leaving soon, so need to have an idea of whether I can get it there or not...its every 3 months so I'll need to make sure I get organised so that I don't miss the next injection. Thanks for any info! :-)
  10. I'm very interested in this also - I hope that it doesn't close, could definitely do without the extra demand on our finances, let alone it adding to our baby's journey - its long enough as it is!
  11. Thanks MaryRose02 - Will think of that, would like to find a bit of a nicer place to stay than a hostel - I'm sure I saw threads here before that were for shared accomodation. Hoping someone can give us some more links. Will look into hostels though, it would certainly be a cheaper option, and I've seen some rentals on gumtree, fingers crossed!
  12. Hey everyone and anyone that can help! We are probably going to be heading out in July this year, but we really need to find a cheap place to stay as we are not sure we will have jobs secured before we move, and don't want to eat into our savings. We are a young married couple (27 and 29 year old), like a quite life! Quite happy to even rent a double room for a few weeks until we secure work and a more long-term rental. Anyone have any ideas or contacts? Thanks in advance! :-)
  13. 14. Hey, our visa came in nine months, and it took a couple months to get skills assessment through before that. Then you've got to remember you'll have to get your medical, once requested. So Sept 2013 could be very optimistic! I assume you are registered for English/history then? Sounds good out there, i wouldn't choose a private school either. Fingers crossed there's jobs available when i'm heading out there! Best of luck with your plans :-)
  15. Thanks for all of your help Mad Cow! :-)
  16. Thats an excellent update - full of information that we'll certainly need, hopefully later this year! Glad you're settling in fine and hope 2013 gets all the better for you! :-) Perhaps see you out there!
  17. Hey - no, we're looking to move mid 2013 - just wanted to get an idea of how we can get onto the property ladder, as thats our biggest goal really! Hoping if we can get jobs ASAP when we move then we can keep our savings and use them towards a deposit...fingers crossed!
  18. Hi David - I'm sure you'll be aware having taught in Oz, but they don't do RE as as subject - so English or history would be your best bet - but are you fully registered for these subjects with the UK teaching authority? That would be your first step. AITSL are quite quick, as its a profession rather than a trade, you just need to send off certificates from Uni, registration with UK teaching (ie. in Scotland it would be my GTCS registration certificate) and a letter from head teacher(s) to confirm your teaching experience. But please remember, DO NOT apply for visa before you have your skills assessment completed. The whole process will not be quicker based on your personal circumstances, they will only know these when they get to your application, it is the waiting in the queue that takes all the time! Although I wouldn't pay for an agent if I was you - me and my hubbie did it by ourselves and it was an easy enough process - that was based on my skills as a teacher. If you have any questions just get in touch! By the way, how did Oz teaching in Perth compare to the UK? We're moving in 2013, to Perth and I'm a Chemistry teacher - so would be interesting to see how you found it?!? :-)
  19. Hey - thanks for that so far! Mad cow...the first time buyers grant - is that applicable before you actually buy? ie. could we start the process of applying for building a house and apply for the grant to pay towards the deposit??? (does that make sense?) Adjutant - thanks for the timing advice, will bear that in mind!
  20. Hey - I know that "technically" you're not supposed to do this in the UK, but can you take out a loan to pay for a mortgage deposit in Oz?
  21. Thanks everyone - thats some fantastic information, will have a look on some of those websites and will def. consider diploma rather than cert IV. Its difficult for me to know what I would like to do as I have only ever been a teacher, straight from school to uni, then to teaching. Been doing it for 5 years and really have no other idea on what I could do, or be good at! Appreciate all the advice and will get back to you when I've had a looky! :-)
  22. Hi "Realitynotincluded" - was looking into Occupational Health and Safety, as I like working with people and have strong views on making workplaces safe for all. We had a recent experience at our workplace that did not do this correctly and I felt like I was the only person who seemed to be interested in the safety of the staff! Hoping someone on the forum may have experience in this field to give me more of an insight!
  23. Hi Ali - no, we've been granted permanent 175 visa based on my teaching qualifications - just looking into options for a career change...
  24. Hey - great Lindor - thanks for your reply to this thread - we're looking for this kinda thing too - although with the amount of clothes I have, I'm sure we'll have quite a few boxes! Thanks! :-)
