  3. Hi Kelly, That would be lovely. Hope you are enjoying Australia so far. Where abouts in North Lakes are you moving to? Emma
  4. Hi all we moved to North Lakes near Brisbane in November, before we came over I had secured a job working in Banyo and thought that looking on google maps that a 25-30 minute drive to work wouldn't be too bad, unfortunatly we didn't know that the M1 and gateway motorways were the main roads in to Brisbane and sometimes my travel in can be upto 45- 50 minutes. Now i'm not saying don't move to North Lakes because it is a lovely area, just be aware if your travelling south be prepared for spending some time in your car.
  5. Hi all in the uk we had a maxi cosy tobi for our youngest daughter and some other pink thing for our oldest daughter. Now, the maxi cosy wasn't an isofix seat but, by the time it was straped in you couldn't move it, the other seat we had was for our 4 year old, this was an isofix seat and as we all know they don't move once locked in position. Now we live in oz we have had to get new seats as they don't think uk seats are good enough, the problem is that they use a stupid anchor strap that in my opinion does not secure the seat as good as uk seats. I know there is nothing I can do to change things, and yes I do know that there are places you can go to get them professionally installed at a cost, just venting my frustration to you all even though my wife told me not to!
  6. Hi Vanesha, Thats a shame I am in North Lakes QLD Emma
  7. Hi, We are a family of 4 (Lee 32, Emma 30, Scarlett 4 and Kassie 2) and moved to North Lakes in November. Lee works during the week, but I am at home with the girls. Would be really good to meet up with other mums/families in the area. If anyone is interested in a meet up, please reply or PM me. Thanks Emma
  8. Hi all I bought my wife an amazon kindle for christmas, as I switched my uk account to oz account we decided to use that to download some books only to find that most books were not available to australian customers. Luckly my wife still has a uk account, so we tried this and found we could download whatever books we liked. Just as well we have some money in a uk bank account! Hope this helps to anyone who has bought a kindle in oz.
  9. I was issued a TFN while on a WHV in 2002, I fly over on a permanent visa arriving on the 4th November, starting work on the 7th, do I need to notify the tax office that I am now a permanent resident? Is the tax different? Any advice would be greatly received. Lee
  10. hi, me and my family are moving over to brisbane in november, i have a large snapon tool box to ship, but it's going in the container with all our house goods. I think you could use a part container but not too sure on costs of these.

  12. Hi we used Visa Bureau to get our visas, I think we paid £3000ish in total to them medicals for 2 adults and 2 kids £ 700 ish police checks £ 70 Removals (not the black company) £3300ish Now selling our house to pay for container and flights. As previously said you don't have to pay these costs all at once so it is manageable.
