Thanks for the reply guys, geordiegirl Yes i need the IELTS for the points, currently studying for that now. i will have my three years registration in march 2015 but i didn't get my first post until 9 weeks later which means i wont have my 3yrs ex until the beginning of June 2015. I was wondering as ANMAC takes approx. 16 weeks could i apply to ANMAC in the March as by the time the 16 weeks is up i will have passed the 3 year mark for experience if this makes sense? sarah

Once I have completed IELTS can I then apply to ANMAC even though I cant apply for the 190 visa until I have three years experience? I would like to get this out the way if it is at all possible. If not as ANMAC takes around 16 weeks could I apply to ANMAC 16 weeks before my three years experience? I have emailed ANMAC regarding the same however had no reply:mad: thanks in advance

    visa help

Hi, if I go to Australia in 2014 on a 457 visa, I will have 2 years experience as a mental health nurse, following this if I have worked for the same employer in Australia for 1 year I will have a total of 3 years experience. Can I then apply for a 190 visa? I cant apply now for PR as I am short of points, but after 3 years experience I can then claim an extra 5 points for one year in Australia and 5 points for state sponsorship resulting in me having enough points.
  5. Hi Rupert, been thinking about what you have posted and was wondering although this is not an ideal option my options are very limited. I was wondering if I was to go on the 457 visa in July 14, before I went I would have 2 years experience, if I then went to Aus and worked for 1 year all together I would have a total of 3 years experience following this would I have the requirements needed to apply myself for the 186 or 187 visa? also would I need to complete the IELTS for these visas? I don't think I would enough time before I am 40 to complete the IELTS and apply for a visa as I've only got til October.
  6. hi starlight, yes this is definitely an option I will look into, I was having thoughts about approaching employers myself via email. it is all so frustrating as I feel time is against me with age of me and my eldest daughter and we are all so desperate to go.
  7. hi Rupert, my partner does not have any formal qualifications, he is 45 and works in a quarry. he does have an aunt that lives in NSW and would be willing to sponsor us but don't know if that would be an option or help with getting any more points
  8. Hi, thanks for the reply, I am 39 and 40 in October which gives me 15 points, diploma qualification I think is 10 points, I don't have the English language test and have 1 year and 2 months experience post qualified giving me a total of 25 points so massively short of the 60 points any posts regarding my options would be greatly appreciated and I will certainly look into the visa's suggested, thanks again sarah
  9. Hi, im a mental health nurse with 1 years experience post qualifying, 39 years old approaching 40 and hoping to migrate to Australia with my family. My first thought was to go on a 457 visa with hope of getting sponsorship in the future for PR however from reading posts on here I have been advised this is not a good option as I have 2 dependent children of 14 and 17. I don't think I have enough points to apply for permanent residency however I have looked on the 187 visa and am wondering if this is a possible option for me and my family? I am in contact with a recruitment agency in Ireland and have contacted my agent about my concerns however I am still awaiting feedback. Any advice on this issue will be greatly appreciated, thanks Sarah. x
  10. On the 457 visa i have been looking at the forensic hospital in Sydney and according to the recruitment agency im using it does say that after 12 months they will sponsor for PR, but obviously its still a big risk.
  11. Thanks for taking your time to look into this for me, its very useful, its making me think twice about the 457 visa. I am 40 in October, would i have to do the IELTS test before applying for a 190 visa? My 17 year old daughter is still in full time education and plans on being when getting to Australia if that is possible but due to fees this doesnt seem to be an option until we have PR.
  12. Hi thanks for the reply, I don't have enough points as i am not degree trained i am diploma, therefore i wouldnt qualify for the 15 points. I know that i could go for the English Language Test and get 20 points there, i do want to go to NSW (Sydney - a forensic hospital) or would like to go to Canberra as we have family there and where we have previously visited. I am worried about the 457 visa as if we do go we will be going with everything that we own and giving up a 10 year mortgage, also i have my children who are 14 and 17 who at the moment are both keen to go however it is a big decision to up sticks and go if things don't work out with the 457 and i cant get permanent residency and have to come back to the UK.
  13. Hi, im a mental health nurse thinking of migrating to Australia with my family on the 457 visa, i am feeling rather confused regarding this visa as i have read on here lots of stories that are not in favour of this visa option, the problem i have got is i have 13 months experience as a qualified nurse, i am 39 and don't qualify for any of the other visas due to not having enough points. If my family and I make the move to Australia eventually we do want to be able to apply for permanent residency, however i am well aware that the 457 visa is only a temporary visa and i am wondering if this visa is the best for me with that in mind. Any help on this issue will be greatly appreciated, thanks, Sarah x
