  1. Just a thought have you thought about having an au pair? I am a single parent in Perth of a 4 year old and a teenager. I work shift work and also have recently started my own business so really stretched with working hours at the moment. Having an au pair is the only way I can manage my children with school drop offs, after school activities etc. It is so affordable and and flexible and all you need is an extra bedroom. I pay $150 a week for 25 hours with bed and board.
  2. Hi, We had a similar circumstance and it was never an issue. No assurance of support was asked for. As far as I'm aware it is up to the individual case officer to decide if one is required. Hope that helps and good luck with your application. Helen
  3. Thanks guys, I just assumed it was almost instant once they had required info but I guess like everything visa related it takes time. As far as finance goes I'm going to look into it again. OH works FIFO in a permanent job so affording it shouldn't be the issue. When we tried before we put it to them first that OH was on a visa but maybe if we discuss it without mentioning that to them it may be ok. Anyway we can only try and I'll post how I get on. Thanks for your help Helen x
  4. Hi everyone I've just got a couple of questions regarding this visa. The OH is currently still on the provisional 309 and in April of next year will have spent 2 years on this. What is the timeframe and process to being awarded the permanent visa 100? I am aware that you provide further info regarding continuing relationship but once you have provided this how long until you receive the new visa? Secondly has anyone on the provisional visa managed to secure a car loan? And if so with whom? Reason for asking is we currently drive are giving us expensive problems and we are just pouring money into these cars which is painful considering their value. We have previously looked into finance but as OH is main earner and hasn't a visa which gives him permanency this was a problem and on my wage (part time) wasn't sufficient to apply with. Any thoughts much appreciated. Thanks in advance guys Helen x
  5. We used them and had no problems.

  8. Hi caz, My other half is a carpenter. I think it is fairly easy enough getting the mine work if u have a few contacts. My OH just called anyone he knew of and eventually got a start. Was the same when looking for work around Perth. Where in Ireland are you coming from? You must be so excited I know we were. Xx
  9. Hey, we live in Beeliar and have been here just over a year. We originally from Ireland. I'm 32 and my oh is 29. He starts a new job which is fifo in 2 weeks. Would love to meet more people so if u fancy a drink or coffee let's organise something. Helen x

Hi, you go to a doctor on the panel of doc's on the australian immigration website not your regular gp. my oh had his medical in dublin in feb and it was straight forward enough. nothing anybody really should worry too much over. the hardest part of the whole process is getting your paperwork together. best of luck everyone Helen x :realmad:
  14. Thanks everyone for the congrats!! I'd say all the approvals will come flooding in now. Fingers crossed for all of you. I was sure we'd need to provide more information before we reached the approval stage but not so in the end. I think you just worry unnecessarily because of the waiting period. Looking forward to hearing your good news guys Helen x :biglaugh:
  15. 13th april emailed CO to let him know we have flights booked for 14th june 10. He said to email him on the 27th of april which is today as internal processing should be completed by then and he said he would see what he could do. My OH emailed him this morning and he emailed us before lunch with the approval and requested his passport.

  18. Hi Guys, Just letting you know as well that I am the aussie and had to get police checks from oz as there are chidren involved in the application. Both children are mine and both have citizenship and aussie passports although born in ireland. I think it is something brought in recently for child protection although not 100% sure. As for the waiting i am so impatient. We have flights booked even sooner and there seems to be such a slow down on application approvals. Starting to discuss the wat ifs. Dont thiink we can change flights as they were cheap ones but not cheap enough just to lose. We have discussed going anyway with OH on a tourist visa and just leaving country when visa is approved but this will be a costly option also. OH is going to email CO at end of mth and see if we can get a clearer picture of the when. Will keep you's all posted and cant wait to hear of things moving along for all of you that applied before us Helen x :arghh:
