1. As a newly qualified Registered Midwife (Diploma of Higher Education) I found myself to be so much more qualified and highly trained than my Australian colleagues. They have completed almost 1000 hours less practical training and were never given the opportunity to perform venepuncture, suturing or cannulation - hence why they have the grad year. I am keeping my fingers crossed for you all.
 2. Yes lots of us around here! We live in Williams Landing, we have friends in Tarneit, Wyndham. Point Cook and Sanctuary Lakes - so all dotted around the Werribee area. Are you a family or a couple?
 3. If you see a stop sign it means stop! It is not a give way sign - it is a stop sign - no matter what the circumstances and no matter how clear you think the road may be! They put stop signs up for a reason.
 4. Thank you for your reply amibovered. Do you have children? I have two and just wondered if there would be enough to keep them entertained?
 5. Thanks! I have not read any negative comments about it. But it would be great to actually hear from someone that lives there.
 6. Hi everyone Does anyone live in or near Gisborne? Would like some feedback on the area and what it is like to live there. Thanks!
 7. Safe journey! Melbourne is a fab place to live!
 8. I was watching a programme recently and they had a local real estate agent from the Gold Coast area. The real estate agent said that they had so many properties on their books for sale, that if they didnt take another house on their books in the next 2 1/2 years they would still have enough properties to fill the demand for people wanting to purchase! My friend has had her (beautiful) property on the market up there for 6 months and has reduced the price by 80k but still not budging! Where we live (Melbourne area) there are so many properties on the market for sale and for rent. People have had 2nd and 3rd homes built wanting to rent them out but now the market is flooded! Anything over 600k is struggling to sell and anything over 300pw is struggling to be rented out (just what I was told by a real estate agent). To save the economy the government gave all the schools grants to keep the builders employed. The schools all had new gymnasiums etc built but this is all slowing down. We popped into a sales home last weekend and the salesman said they couldnt get rid of the land and where they would previously take 279k for a 700 sq plot, now they would take 250k. This is 20 minutes from the city! Current clearing rates for Melbourne are around 50% for auctions. Prices are reported as going down 250 dollars a day. So I guess it does look like the prices are going down! We will just have to wait and see - but I wouldnt buy a house anytime soon!

Hi Clak,

How are you?

Thanks for your message - I just logged on last night for the first time in ages, and noticed your message so apologies for the delay in replying!

Brief update - I am here now! Renting a house in Manor Lakes, still waiting for registration which should hopefully not take too long, but have also been offered a job at the Mercy which is great and I can't wait to start!

Do you mind me asking where abouts you are living then, and do you still work at the Mercy? My husband and I have both been admitted there since we have been here and both experiences have been wonderful and very positive.

Do you fancy meeting up for a coffee sometime? I am open to new places as the only place we really know so far for a nice coffee is a shop in the Plaza!

Once again, sorry for just replying to your message, and I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Hi

I noticed in a reply to a thread that you have mentioned looking at settling in the Point Cook area and being a nurse. I work at the Werribee Mercy Hospital which is 5 minutes from Point Cook. It is small hospital - medical, surgical, pallative care, maternity, special care nursery, mental health and emergency department - but is a really nice place to work and I would recommend it. Let me know if you want more information.
