  6. Siren is a new bar just opened up in Gungahlin - it's really nice, and then there's Ginger and Spice on Hibberson St in Gungahlin, lovely meal there too!! Depending on what is your 'cup of tea' there's also the Canberra Raiders club who do schnitzel night (every Wednesday I think), we usually go down there to watch the State of Origin matches and get some dinner while we're at it, it's a lovely big place and not to mention usually busy oh and you'll have to become a member there as well!!!
  7. I may head down to watch the fire work show....my oh will be away camping with his kids but for anyone who is staying home with kids, there seems to be a whole itinerary in Canberra  http://www.events.act.gov.au/?/event/view/21
  8. Because of the time differences some of the races are on 'overnight' here.....
  9. I did the 309 visa by myself, save a fortune!!!

  11. I'm not sure if there is an actual Celtic Club in Canberra (I'm a big Scottish Rugby fan  and not into the fitty!!) but this place might be a sure fire hit!! 14. Hi there! There have been afew PIO meets lately and I believe we are probably due another one!! Various people arrange the meets and so far they've been held in a variety of places, where kids can play together, adults can use barbecues and cook up some food and generally have a natter and meet each other. Not sure when or who will be arranging the next one, I think it will be a case of 'watch this space!'
  15. Me and my hubby went to this last year (see link below) and got so much haggis, Irn Bru, sliced sausage and black pudding it was unbelievable, (I couldn't get the 'tattie scones' because they'd sold out by the time I'd got to the stall!! lol :arghh: Was a great day and we camped at a near by camp site, we intend to do the same again this year but take my oh's kids this time too, if you decide to come along, remember to wear some tartan, we were like the odd ones out last year because we didn't wear tartan!!! http://www.bundanoon.com.au/brigadoon.html
  16. Yeah, lol, I cand honestly say that my diet has really improved since I got here, (although I still indulge in the odd kebab and pizza, but they don't do chippy brown sauce here, and I just can't bring myself to have a chippy without it!!! Lol :err:
  17. I've got to agree with Paisley Lass, I've done practically the same thing on my facebook photo's!!! And although I'm not game enough yet to try the Kanga banga's yet, I do love the bacon here and oh......the steaks are just to die for!! That's only my opinion though, everyone is different.
  18. I've just had my 2 year anniversary living in Australia (last Friday!) and I haven't looked back, was one of the best decisions I've made (that and marrying my Ozzie hubby!!) I do appreciate that some folks find out they don't like Australia once they arrive, that's their perogative, each to their own I say......
