Hi My hubby & son are travelling to Spain for 3 weeks, They are Permanent Residents here in Oz, but still have British Passports. Can they travel under their British Passports or do they need any other type of visa to go to Spain then come back home here in Melbourne? Think I may be getting confused & worried over nothing, help?!! TIA

Hi Pom Queen, been trying to work out the timescale, how long is it before we can apply for citizenship? Do you know? TIA

Well, after 2 and half years on a 475 we had our 887 granted today, 4 months after being submitted. We couldn't be happier, the wine is in full flow & very apt that it's Australia Day soon. Happy is an understatement, now we can look to buying a house & putting down roots

Land rates are based on both land value (Site Value) AND house (Capital Improved Value) multiplied by a rate in the dollar, on top of this some (not all) will add a Municipal Charge & Garbage charge. There is also the Fire Levy that will go on, standard £100 plus a rate in the dollar for the CIV amt. If its just a vacant block then there would be a rate in the dollar mulitiplier plus Fire Service Levy

What kind of mortgage could we afford on this income?

Hi Fairystar, if you dont mind me asking, what are the monthly payments for a £375k mortgage? TIA -
This sounds so familiar! My 'mum' once charged me £75 to babysit 3 days for my daughter, told me I would be a heavy smoking mother at 16, amongst many other negative things!! I invested my time & energy in my beautiful family & we live & thrive in Australia. I broke the cycle of abuse. So now I phone her once a week, we exchange pleasantries about the weather she will tell me that no one comes to see her & she's just waiting to die. (bearing in mind that she isnt remotely ill). My life is successful & happy & my relationship with my hubby & children is glorious. in one word, she is jealous. I was the apple of my dad's eye & she has always resented me for it. I could never change her, only the way I deal with her, which I did & gave me freedom from her mental abuse

it's a shame you're not nearer Sunbury, I joined a running club in Feb & run 3 times a week, there's a group of us training for Melbourne half marathon in October. You could also look up Hash Harriers, I think they have groups all over

Put my son a year ahead as he is bright & put my daughter back a year as she isnt so bright! Wish I had put my son with his peers and not his academic level. He has gravitated towards the boys his own age when it comes to play & socialisation, he is 8 yrs and with 9/10 yr olds.

Hi. Hubby has been on methotrexate and other drugs since 21, he's now 38. Long story short, he passed medical forvisa, been in oz for 18 months, all blood tests are free and all drugs are covered by one prescription cost, about $30 a month. Gp is also covered by Medicare, so bulk billed and no cost to us. Seen at consultant that has just changed him to Humira. This drug costs $1800 a month apparently, but again the cost to us I under Medicare so only $35 a script. Consultant charges $150 each visit and we claim about $80 back on Medicare. The drug has been amazing for him, a few issues we need to look at but on the whole amazing. We are on a temp visa -so in short, our experience has been amazing and no private health care needed. He to has psoriatic arthritis

Hi Blossom79 - just to clarify if you could, my friend has her 21 year old working son with her. He came as part of the 457 Visa that dad was sponsored on at which time he was under 18 .They will be looking to the permanent visa this year, how will this impact on the 21year old? Will he have to apply for his own visa now? My friends agent has told her not to worry, he can be included on theirs despite his age & working

Can anyone help here? Have got a friend that has been advised (loosely) by her agent that her parents can migrate on a permanent basis & she & her husband can sponsor them (she is an only child) and it will cost the parents $24k each & on this particular 'visa' the mother & father could work. Also advising them that the parents could get the visa fairly swiftly once they pay the money as this visa helps them jump the queue Her question is: Has anyone come across this visa & if so what subclass is it Could the agent be giving fals hope Thanks

Hi, OH got through the medical, with supporting letter from his consultant, as he has Psoriatic RA. He was on methotraxate, folic acid & solaziprine (not sure if that's how you spell it). Got through fine, but to be perfectly honest no agent could tell us if he would or wouldnt, it was just the end of a long journey and we just had to be prepared for the worst. Luckily the outcome was positive. Strangely enough his consultant here has just put him on Humira (been about 10 weeks now) and we have been told the 2 injections a month cost approx. $1800, BUT he gets it covered by medicare so the cost to us is only $30 for both injections. Has had an amazing response but he's had a shocking reaction to the injection site, hot red inflammed, even with anti inflammatries & cream, but onwards & upwards. PM if you would like any other info, dont give up hope but get your case together with your letter from your consultant here in the UK & possibly be prepared for the worst
