  1. Hi everyone My finance and I have both lived in Sydney for nearly 4 years - he is Australian, I am British. We plan to get married in the UK and I am having some difficulty finding out what exactly we (he) needs to do legally. I have worked out that he needs to get a visa, which is valid for 6 months, that's no problem. My main concern/confusion is around the timing of everything - to give notice to marry do we need to have everything in place such as the visa, wedding booking, flights, etc? We will be in the UK in July and can give notice to marry then, but given our wedding is in April my fiance won't have his visa at this time, nor will we have the flights booked (we travel on airline "Staff Travel" so always last minute bookings). Has anyone come across this before?
  2. I called the processing centre, the current processing time is 8-12 months!
  3. Hi I received my second stage documents from immigration back in June and sent them off at the beginning of July. I received the acknowledgement card within a week but I have still not been assigned a case worker. I know someone else who sent their documents in May and she too has not yet been assigned a case worker either. I just thought you should know it's a loooong wait. Since reading a few posts today I am now concerned that I have not certified my passport copies properly - my partners sister-in-law did them for us (she's a lawyer). I'm worried that it's not acceptable to have family members certify. Do you know?
