  1. With the vast wealth of knowledge of this forum I am hoping that someone can help me.. We are currently in the uk and need to apply for a child visa for our daughter. I am planning on doing the application myself as it seems straightforward but I need to get various documents certified. From the website it says "You should provide 'certified copies' of original documents. 'Certified copies' are copies authorised, or stamped as being true copies of originals, by a person or agency recognised by the law of the country in which you currently reside" Do I assume that as here I can use a Professional person such as a doctor/ dentist as here in the UK?..help!!

    Orthadontist

Hi, I am not an orthodontist but a dentist so hope I can help. Most courses take about 12-18 months to complete although more complex cases can take longer. During this time you would need to see the orthodontist fairly frequently, usually around every 4-6 weeks. Emergency appointments can also be needed for loose brackets / wires, I would expect these to be included in the cost of a course of treatment but you would have to pay if you visited another orthodontist and this could be expensive. Treatment plans and end results can vary depending on orthodontist and ideally I would prefer the same person to complete the course of treatment. I know treatment can be expensive in Australia but I would say £4000 is certainly not particularly cheap and I would suspect that with all the flights etc it may work out cheaper to wait. hope this helps and good luck with the move!
  3. Thanks for all the advice, will certainly be applying myself and saving the pennies!
  4. Hi, My hubbie, daughter and myself all have a 175 skilled visa which we activated in June 2012. Since then daughter number 2 has come along and we have to apply for a child visa 101 which is another $2000. For our last visa we used an agent but we have been quoted approx another £600 to use an agent, money which I would prefer to save, and hope someone here has applied and could advise if we actually need to use an agent. I have also been told the processing time is about 9 months, does anyone have any experience of this?
