  1. Hi all I'm looking to gather all required paperwork for my 186 visa application but don't have my birth cert. I would need to apply for a copy of my birth cert from the UK but they don't post them abroad and I have nobody left in the UK who can forward it on which makes it very difficult for me to obtain. The immi website does say that if you don't have your birth cert AND cannot obtain it, then you can provide identification documents issued by a government department such as an australian drivers license which I have. My questions are: 1. Is this allowance by the department just for countries that did not issue birth certificates? 2. Is it likely my australian drivers license and medicare card will be deemed insufficient and I will be told to obtain my birth certificate? I have searched the internet for days and cannot find any information. I have also spoken with the department of immigration but found my internet search more helpful! Any assistance would be greatly appreciated, or if anybody knows of a general enquiries email address for the dept. of immi that would be great. Thanks for your time guys.
  2. Hi all Does anyone know if it is possible to apply for 2 457 visas at the same time? One via a Labour Agreement with an agency and the other through a separate employer? An employer who is a sponsor is currently in the process of submitting a visa application for me (employer A) Another employer wishes to employ me through a labour agreement (employer B). If I sit tight, employer A's visa application may fail on the Nomination and employer B may not wait for me and offer the position to someone else. I've been messed around already by another employer leading me on with the promise of sponsorship and I would like to put the ball in my court. I'm currently on a Working Holiday Visa and would ideally like to apply for both if thats possible? Thanks, P
  3. Hi All My employer has decided to sponsor me and I am absolutely delighted! They are a small employer and meeting the training requirement is causing a bit of a headache. They employ a Junior Project Manager who is learning on the job but does not have a formal learning plan in place. Has anyone had this issue before? I am wondering if it is acceptable to employ a training provider to develop a simple training plan for the individual? Thanks
  4. Hi I was wondering if anyone knows what process an agency must go through to sponsor an individual for a 186 visa if the individual has worked for them for over 2 years via a Labour Agreement? It is my understanding that it is only the agency that could sponsor the individual for the 186 and not the actual company the individual works for. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
  5. Hi everyone, I've been planning my move to Melbourne from the UK for over a year and I am now finally in Melbourne. I never use this site for 1 reason - I can't for the life of me, figure out how you use the search function. How on earth does it work? Any help on this would be greatly appreciated as I feel like throwing my Macbook out the window onto Hoddle Street. Thanks Sean
  6. Hi all I recently arrived in Oz on a WHV after spending a few months travelling around Asia. I am a Health and Safety Adviser and have had a lot of interest in my CV but cannot get work because there are only full time positions available. I am now considering applying for another visa which will give me a pathway to residency. Can anyone please advise on the best options? I have spoken with the Department of Immigration and they are absolutely terrible, providing outdated advice and conflicting information. I am willing to relocate to a regional area. My occupation is on the SOL (251312) Any advise would be very much appreciated. Thanks, Sean
  7. Morning all My partner and I are looking into applying for a skilled visa as my Occupation is now on the SOL List (Occupational Health and Safety Advisor) I have contacted VETASSESS who have informed me that I do not qualify as I do not have a degree however, when I did a little research on the Department of Immigration website, it clearly states under my job title that 5 years of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualification. I have 7 years experience, am fully qualified and a graduate member of the leading H&S body in the UK and do not have a degree as I do not need one in my occpuation. I contacted VETASSESS who passed me on to DIAC who passed me back. I cannot contact VETASSESS over the phone as I am on hold for such long periods so I use email which is proving fruitless as they just pass me off. Can anyone advise on how I can approach this? Is there a skills assessment form I could complete? Just because VETASSESS say no and do not look into my query regarding the skills assessment on my background, I do not want to give up and some guidance would be greatly appreciated.
