All: Thank you for the feedback. I was just wondering if I could set-up the payment before arriving and then go on line and pay the bond. Going to the bank etc will be just one extra thing to do with a car load of luggage etc. We know the area but understand that it's a bit high risk being as we've only seen the property on line and goggle maps, I have asked for more pics to be taken with some video footage. At the moment I haven't paid any money.

I have managed to secure a long term rental, in order to make the arrival in Oz run smooth I want to arrive in Geelong and go straight to the rental accommodation and begin settling in. The one thing that could prevent this the bond payment, is there anyway this payment can be made electronically and not use a Banker draft etc as payemnt.

Thanks for the info, would know where I can locate the thresholds you've mentioned. I've found the tax bands, having the other theshold would be really helpful. I plan to live Melborune where you have to pay for an ambulance, I need to look into these costs etc. Something else to add to the list lol After reading other threads I have deceided a 'Tax Advisor' This is a must

What makes you think it will get nicked, once it's on the RORO the car is chained down and doen't move etc until it arrives at it's destination.

I've shipped cars all over world as part of my job. I filled cars up with all sorts of tools and equipment, providing it's clearly shown on manifest you should have a problem. The shipping company you are using should provide you with the best information on what can & can't do. You don't have to de-gas the AC system. There is no way of visually checking on most cars.

The dentist is on the list, I assumed it would the same as here 'expensive lol'. I am assuming that Medicare status doesn't change from state to state??. Looks like I have to learn to keep all receipts etc, Your tax rebate sounds very simular to being self-emplyed in UK. The UK system for PAYE doesn't allow for expenes you have quoted. Have you taken out any other medical insurance??

Thanks for the info, I don't mind paying providing I know what I'm paying for and I get value for money and most important thing, I don't want to miss anything or take anything for granted as this could spoil the dream move. I guess the first thing I need to do is apply for Medicare when we arrive.
