  1. How exciting...you will love it here! I work at Mount Martha Primary. It is another option for you. Have a look at the website. We are a big school set in beautiful grounds - semi rural I would say and near the beach. We have a beach program in our curriculum for years 3-6 where we utilise this beautiful resource right on our doorstep! We live in mount martha and hubby drives to the city. Would add about 10- 15mins on the journey from Mount Eliza I guess. When are you planning on coming over?
  2. Hi there, as Petals says they are very far apart. I have friends with children at both schools and friends that work at Red Hill. Both are great schools. Red hill is more rural. It really will depend on where you are living. You don't want a school where all your children's friends live far away ( well, its a consideration anyway). Where are you? Cheers Sally
  3. Not been on here for ages and saw that there are a lot of newbies...so anyone fancy a coffee morning. Mornington area. Pm me if you do.
  4. Hi , are you still looking for work? Whereabouts are you?
  5. Hi, we came over on a 457. It is, in my opinion, a very insecure visa. My partner lost his job and we were given 28 days to find a new sponsor or leave Australia. Luckily he got a new sponsor. This has happened to s 3 times now. His last employer eventually sponsored us for Permanent residency and after a year with them, we were able to apply for citizenship. It has been a rocky, an expensive , road. My advice is to get your partners work to sponsor you and put in for PR ASAP. So you have more security. Good luck
  6. Yep...up for that. Where and when?
  7. thats a shame ...can't make that date....group of us going kayaking up the Yarra!!!!
  8. Hi there, Not been on here for ages. Had a lot going on and just got back from a hol in the Uk to see the children and grandchild. didn't know about a meet up in St Kilda. Happy to meet up for coffee sometime...maybe half way...Frankston? Do you have work commitments? Sally x
  9. hey, we are in Mount Martha. Our children are all in their twenties and are all in the UK so have something in common. Ifx you fancy meeting up let me know. How long have you been here and whereabouts are you? sally x
  10. you just need to take your old passports with you just in case but its all electronic so you'll be fine.
  11. Hi...just seen this thread. We have been in Mount Martha for 3 years. It is a beautiful place. The beaches are lovely and plenty of choice. Lots of POMs here and some do the commute to the city but it is a SLOW train....takes over an hour and stops at every stop. It costs just over $10 and is $3 on a Sunday. I think living in Mount Martha/Mornington means you have the best of both worlds....the beaches and cafes on your doorstep and easy access to the city when you want a night out. Frankston is ok for shopping. Personally I wouldn't want to live in Frankston North but Frankston South is fine and the schools are good. Mount Eliza is lovely too. Hope you settle in to wherever you choose. x
  12. Whereabouts on the peninsula are you?

Hellooooo.....We live in Mount Martha, but the Mornington end. Been here 3 years now. Loads and loads of Brits on the peninsula. Mornington definately (in our opinion) the best place to live (but not the cheapest!). We have a good circle of friends, some with younger children and some, like us , with older children. ....ours are back in the UK. If you would like to meet up in Mornington when you are settled we could go for a coffee or something stronger in Main Street. PM me if you would like to. You wont be billy no mates for long down here! x
  14. where abouts in victoria are you located? i can help you if you are not too far away
