  1. Know a carpenter who got a cert 3 through a RTO in Australia while here if he applies for visa does he need to go through vetasses still? As he already has Australian qualification. What steps does he need to take?
  2. Skilled visa for permanent residents
  3. Just enquiring if Australian qualification were in hand when starting the visa process would skills recognition through vetesses still be required and would this speed up the visa process?
  4. Is there any migration lawyers on here who could offer some advice please?
  5. Vetassess are not a reconised Australian qualification, but the rto use the same information used by Vetassess all the evidence and reference gathering are pretty much the same but they will not take this into account when applying for your licence, even though you can't get into Australia without passing this qualification from vetassess it dosen't count..
  6. The company we used is a recognised training organisation and is able to deliver all over Australia not just in Queensland. Plus it depends what you want out of life.... If you are happy to work for somebody else or be a handyman who can't take on jobs over $3,300 including labour and materials ( when materials alone cost a fortune), and be willing to compete against the Australians for jobs who have Australian qualifications and be willing to be paid rubbish wages when you do land a job then yes it maybe a waste of money to some, but for those who have bigger dreams of becoming somebody and making something of your new life down under its entirely down to you. All we know is all the jobs for carpenters which where coming up when my husband had been out of work for 6 months and our savings where dwindling fast is they all requested a licence and yes in the end he landed a job without one but only because he applied for an apprentice position and living on a rubbish wage with 3 kids rent etc etc is very hard to do.. so i would suggest you make up your own minds as to if its a waste of money or not, I know for a fact my husband will be going on to do his builders licence next and don't think for one minute that any money has been wasted on doing any kind of licence...
  7. Any tradies needing any help or advise for getting their licences or qualifications transfered to Australian qualifications i am willing to help. My husband is a fully qualified carpenter, had his own building company back in the UK, loads of experience and references yet still struggled to find a good job once landing in Oz.. We have been here 2 years now and my husband has just got his carpenters licence as without one a good job or any job is hard to find.. we found a trainer that can get licences/ transfer of qualifications in place while your still in the Uk and can have you job ready within weeks of arriving (not months or even years..) you can even spread the cost and pay monthly so there is not a great expense to find or any extra hassles when you get here. Any advise needed please feel free to contact me.
  8. All tradies need a licence in Oz in order to get any kind of a decent paying job... Its took us 2 years to realise how important it is to get your licences in place ready for when you arrive:arghh: My husband has struggled for work since the moment we arrived without one.. Without a licence it doesn't matter how qualified you were back in the UK or how much experience you have got in the trade you need a licence. I am now in a position to help all you tradies get your licences in place and get you job ready within weeks of arriving in Oz, no matter which state you are moving to. PM me for more info. Lynsey

  17. hi, you are not alone and i'm pretty sure you won't be the last to have these worries, my husband went over end of august - we had to bite the bullet and do it, as the work wasn't coming in in the uk, the house wasn't selling and we had to validate by the end of feb2012, he sold his van bought a one way ticket and went, he got a job in the 1st week saved his wages for a car while i wrapped everything up in the uk - i have rented out the house sold chucked sorted and packed evrything, arranged shipping and booked flights for me and my 3 girls to fly out 3/12. my husband has fantastic friends who he has stayed with, but has just secured a lovely 5 bedroomed house in a lovely area and picked up the keys. all i need to do is sell my car to buy the furniture to fill the house (as i rented my house in the uk out furnished), but i am not panicing yet as i am all excited to get over to see my hubby and the girls can't wait to see their dad. i am sure everything will fall into place.. good luck on your journey, but do not give up on this amazing opportunity you have come so far to get that golden ticket... lynsey
