  1. Hi Lisa, We too moved here in December and are currently living in Huntingdale, just round the corner from both you and Broadbeanio and would love a meet up! We have 3 boys (9,8,4). If you fancy a meet up send me a PM and we can arrange something.
  2. Hi guys, thanks for your support it has paid off, I've secured myself a place on the RN graduate program :-D I'm so chuffed. To support anyone else who applying:- I just treated the application form as an assignment which secured my interview. I think its important to reference I do have PR status already as this may have been a factor in my application.
  3. I have an interview at Charlies (SCGH) in Perth on Tues for the graduate nurse program & am bricking it!! I qualify in Jan 13 in the UK & it's my 1st nursing interview :twitcy:. Will keep you posted how I get on. Wish me luck xx
  4. I'm due to graduate this Dec & am flying straight to OZ as I'm lucky enough to have already obtain PR. Do I have to wait to be registered with AHPRA first before applying for the new grad program? I'm a little worried about the time it takes for registration with the NMC first, then applying to AHPRA. If I applied & registration had not yet come through, do they allow you to postpone or deferr until it comes through?
  5. yea I've been looking at these & they really seem to be the most appropriate route, however looking on various nursing forum sites in OZ, they are also the preferred choice for NQ Ozzy nurses & are highly competative. They specifically say you must not have worked anywhere as a registered nurse. I've also found out QLD health do a Transition to Practice Nurse Education Programs ( TPNEP) http://www.health.qld.gov.au/nursing/transition.asp may also give that a go if gratuate programme applications are unsucsessful. That just QLD health though. I'm looking around at NSW health to see what they are offerring NQ nurses.
  6. Crickey this really is not straight forward. I'm a student nurse in the UK & will shortly be qualified. Does anyone know what the next stages are? I already have my PR visa as my OH is a welder. Can I just apply for registration straight away with AHPRA or do I need to be assessed by ANMC? Has anyone else gone straight over to OZ after qualifing?
  7. Hi, OH is a 1st class welder/boilermaker in Aluminium and mild steel with 16 years experience. Already have residency and looking to move back to OZ. Please PM me if vacancies are still available and will forward his CV. Many thanks.
  8. Ok, for risk of sounding dumb here...but... what the heck does the 'ss' stand for?
  9. yea sorry should have been more clear, degree Bsc Adult Nursing.
  10. I'm currently doing my nurse training in the UK but am flying out to OZ nxt Dec when i've qualified (fingers crossed). does anyone know if i'd be classed as an enrolled or registered nurse in Oz?
  11. husband is a coded first class welder/boilermaker in Ali and steel using both M.I.G and T.I.G welding process. Ali 1mm - 10mm thickness and steel 2mm - 15 mm thickness. has been welding for over 10 years. Does he fit into the job description?
  12. is there another expo anywhere else soon? my hubbys a welder/boilmaker in steel and ali and looking for work in WA. were there any employers there that may be of interest for him? What about nursing in WA, how are people getting on finding employment?
  13. hi, I joined the site when I went out to OZ the first time in 2008, my family and I have 136 residency visas, but I got very home sick and found out I was 3 mths pregnant (I'd only been in OZ 4mth before returning to the UK). I didn't use PIO all that much as I felt quite shy. i now wish I did as you guys are so supportive of each other. Since returning to the UK I began my nursing degree with every intent on returning to OZ once I qualifed which is in Jan '13. i have to apply for a sponsored child visa for my now 2 year old and flights to book for Dec'12 !! Going in Dec '12 as that's when my 5 year residency runs out. has anyone else gone to OZ as a newly qualified nurse or hoping to go in Dec'12?
  14. Oh crikey what joys am i going to have then? Hi everyone, I'm a UK student nurse entering my final year and am wanting to go back out to OZ in Dec 12. I already have my permenant rededency 136 visa as we were in OZ a couple of years ago and applied for the 136 through my husband (he's an ali welder). I'm looking on here to find out if any newly qualified nurses went straight out to OZ or if they gained experience in the UK 1st. Suppose we all have to start somewhere, I just want mine to start in OZ!!
